Monticello, Minnesota is a small town located in the heart of the Dakota Territory. At the time it was founded in 1854, Monticello was an unincorporated communitypopulated by Sioux and Cheyenne tribes. The National Guard soon arrived to protect settlers and provide law and order. The first unit of the National Guard arrived in 1855 and played a vital role during the Indian Wars. After the wars ended, units were stationed at various points in the territory until 1915 when they were disbanded. In 1919, Governor James M. Mitchell created an organization called the State militia to maintain order in what was thenthe Dakota Territories. Today, Monticello is home to three National Guard troops who serve as part of District 9 of Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department. The guardsmen are paid for their services with money from state coffers which helps keep our community safe while providing essential Functions such as: Police protection; Road maintenance; Search & Rescue; etc., all without taxpayer dollars being spent on unnecessary military activity!

The Guard's mission is twofold: to protect the nation's borders, and to provide defense against emergencies or threats. In 2015, there were an estimated 1 million military reservists in the country, making it one of the largest militaries in the world. The National Guard was created on September 14th, 1792 when George Washington ordered all state militias into federal service as part of his declaration of war against France. Since its inception, the Guards have been used for a variety of purposes including domestic peacekeeping, disaster relief, and training for future military officers. Today, there are over 350 National Guardsmen stationed across the United States in locations from small towns to large metropolitan areas. During times of peace or crisis, members of the National Guard can be called upon to help with police response; provide medical care for people stricken by natural disasters; conduct searches and seizures during arrests; assist with traffic control during events such as parades or road closures; or provide support at other government facilities. In some cases, members may also be called upon to provide protection at home while their families are away on vacation or while they're being deployed overseas. National Guard members are not subject to specific recruiting quotas like Regular Army soldiers and Air Force Reservists do. They can join any time that they're available because they're not required to serve a particular length of time before being discharged or released from service (although many do). In fact, many GuardsmenRAWF choose not to serve due to personal reasons (e.g., family commitment) instead opting for shorter deployments around town where they can enjoy their community involvement firsthand rather than living in barracks all day long! Monticello has a rich history, dating back to 1854 when it was founded as a log cabin community by farmers and lumbermen from Wisconsin. Monticello became an agricultural center during the early days of transportation and communication, with settlers traveling to purchase goods from rivals in Iowa or Illinois. The town's first school was built in 1881, and its first post office opened in 1886. The United States National Guard has a rich history and traditions. The first national guard was organized on April 6, 1792 when the Second Continental Congress passed the Morristown Resolution. On July 14, 1861, President Abraham Lincoln called for a creation of an army of three million men to provide security for the Union during the American Civil War. On December 15, 1861, General George B. McClellan ordered all men over twenty-one years of age to report to duty in support of the Union cause. By January 1862, there were more than one million men in service with the National Guard. The National Guard has played an important role in our country from its earliest days. The Guard was used as a reserve force in many key moments throughout our history including World War I and II; it also served as a response to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and responses to other natural disasters such as Hurricane Sandy in New York City and Irene in Erie County, Pennsylvania (the first tornado outbreak documented in that area). In light of these experiences and others, it is clear that the National Guardsman are essential members of our society and have been play an integral role throughout our history. Monticello is a town in Dakota County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,554 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The first settler in what would become Monticello was Jens Christensen, who arrived in 1851. He and his family farmed land around their log cabin until 1854 when they built a house on land that became Monticello Township. In 1865, John Averill bought some of Christensen's land and began to build a mill on the river south of town. By 1868, Averill had built another mill on the east side of the river near present day Second Street and Highway 36. In 1870, George Loring purchased all but one acre (0.40 km²) of township land from Averill for $1,000 cash and started to build a sawmill thereon with assistance from his kinsman James Pemberton Sr.. Loring erected two frame houses on this site in 1871–72 as his mills began production; these are still standing today and are known as Loring House #1 and #2. In 1874–75, Pierre Sorensen came to Monticello from Norway with his wife Magdalena to start farming cotton in what would be the town's first commercial crop; by 1880 he had accumulated over 350 acres (120 ha) of cotton ginning& processing lots along Seventh Avenue South between Tenth Street South and Interstate 610 West). From here he exported most of what became known as "Sorensen Cotton" around the world through terminals at Stroudsburg & Reading Railroad stations before it finally stopped being processed altogether about 1965 when UPN discontinued its international shipping operation after metric measurements replaced imperial measures aboard many ships during that era.) It should also be noted that one early resident ( perhaps namesake Pierre Sorensen himself ) did manage to establish an important business relationship with banker Daniel Brewster ; Brewster financed Sorensen's purchase of 300 acres (12 km²) north northwest corner lot number 2 on Third Street SE in 1889 which eventually served as home plate for Gopher baseball team's then called "Minnesota Twins". This particular connection between Gopher athletics & banking continues up thru current day!
