The Minnesota Army National Guard has a rich history dating back to the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment, which was organized in 1854. The regiment served in the Mexican-American War and the American Civil War, being mustered into service on July 13, 1861. The unit fought in many battles including Antietam, Chancellorsville, Fredericksburg and Manassas. In 1865, the regiment was disbanded and its members were transferred to other troops. In 1933, the state of Minnesota established the Minnesota Army National Guard as an infantry brigade with headquarters at Minneapolis. The brigade consisted of two battalions each from the 2nd MN Infantry Regiment (northwest), 3rd MN Infantry Regiment (southwest) and 4th MN Infantry Regiment (southeast). On December 15th of that year, it was redesignated as a rifle battalion. That same year it became part of II Special Forces Brigade under command of First Lieutenant General James Wickersham Jr., which guarded Ulysses S. Grant’s personal papers at Mount Rushmore National Monument while he visited America during his presidency. From 1951 until 1972 it was commanded by Major General Floyd Cates Jr.. In 1984 it became an airborne brigade under command of Brigadier General Rick Overholt. It deployed to Kuwait in 1990 as part of Operation Desert Storm and participated in ground combat against Iraqi forces occupying Kuwait prior to its withdrawal that month. In 1992, after more than 20 years as a subordinate unit of First Lt General Don Hennepin’s III Special Forces Brigade headquartered in Duluth,[1] IIAG assumed control over all Army National Guard units withinMinnesota effective June 30th following passage by both Houses of Congress authorizing such action.[2] IIAG had been providing assistance to local law enforcement agencies since 1980 when then Colonel Norm Stamper[3], commanding officer for Iiamg Troop A located within Minneapolis Police Department provided direction for operations through his commanders within State Patrol Units assigned thereto; subsequent troop commander changes have not disturbed this arrangement or changed mission/responsibilities with Troop A today nor does any County Field Force agency currently have jurisdiction over our unit except for emergency duties only when specifically ordered by either Col Norm Stamper or myself thru RTO Commander Hammad Salih who is also Squadron Commander for Troop A currently stationed at Minn Post Office; please see attached map on website depicting current deployment locations Army gift history On November 10th 1861 one day after their organization as a regiment called "The 1stMN Inf" they fought their first battle against Mexicans Laredo Texas v MexicoApril 14 1862 This battle makes them known as “the Fighting Minnesotans” It would be until 1864 where they would again fight in multiple engagements In 1864 they become part OFA under MajGen George Meade In 1865 when war ends Missouri becomes territory added to US so these men now serve there new states

When Congress passed the Indian Appropriations Act of 1862, it designated what is now Minneapolis as part of Dakota Territory for all Native Americans living east of the Mississippi River including Sioux and Chippewa tribes who had been living east of that line since before present day. This territory was divided into two parts – Ramsey County (west side) and Washington County (east side). In 1868, when Dakota Territory became part of Iowa Territory, Ramsey County remained with Dakota while Washington County went to Iowa City. The first settlement in what is now Minneapolis occurred on October 15,1858 when Augustus Beecherick founded a farmstead near present day Nicollet Avenue and Second Street South in what is today downtown Minneapolis. Mr. Beecherick named his new settlement after his father-in-law Amos Brownrigg who had settled in what are today north end streets Stinson Parkway West and Nicollet Avenue about two miles southward on Maynard Avenue between Harrison Road and Brooklyn Avenue on November 13th 1857; these were then principal thoroughfares adjacent to Brownrigg’s landowning neighbors on Morningside Heights east Side.) Becahecker’s fledgling town rapidly grew with settlers coming not only from New England but also Illinois, Wisconsin, Canada East & West Virginia among others attracted by promise Of buffalo hunting opportunities along “the great white hope trail” which ran through their region from Buffalo over Missouri & Illinois down river to Texas & California

In January 2006, mayoral candidate Betsy Hodges announced her campaign for mayor against incumbent Karen Stintz ; Hodges eventually won handily after facing little opposition from within her own party or outside it.Following Hodges' victory, much attention turned to City Hall; however, problems continued to plague City Hall even after Hodges took office including allegations that department heads were using their power not just to serve their constituents but also themselves personally gain money through contracts and other dealings while shielding themselves from possible accountability.; these issues came to light again during her first term when she faced accusations that top aides had waived rules surrounding how much time officers could spend on call duty instead thereof During her second term (2013−present), Council member Donnie Nystrom successfully pushed through legislation creating new ethics guidelines which would require all council members must certify they have no conflictOf interest before taking office
