Marshall, Minnesota is a small town in the far northwestern corner of Minnesota. The population was 4,024 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Marshall County. The history of Marshall can be traced back to 1854 when two settlers, John and Josephine Hennepin, founded the town on a gift from their father-in-law, James Hennepin. The first post office was established in 1855. In 1870, Marshall was part of Dakota Territory and it remained so until 1912 when it became part of Minnesota. Today, Marshall is known for its agricultural community and its role as the home to Boeing 777 manufacturing plants. Manufacturing played an important role in early Marshall life and continue to do so today with many companies based there such as General Electric and Northrop Grumman. Additionally, fishing has been a significant industry here since before prohibition made fishing illegal in America; seafood restaurants still line up outside local stores selling fresh catches from local rivers/lakes!

Marshall, Minnesota was a small town in the Midwestern United States when it became a the home of General James K. Polk during his successful campaigns for president in 1844 and 1846. Marshall's early history is intertwined with that of other small towns located in what are nowMinnesota. The community was first established on the banks of the Missouri River, next to present day Saint Paul, Minnesota. The area that is now Marshall was part of what is now Dakota Territory when it was acquired by the United States in 1851. The following year, General Polk moved his headquarters from St Louis, Missouri to what is now Marshall after narrowly losing an election as Presidentdue to vote fraud allegations. In 1862, General Polk again moved his Headquarters to Marshall after successfully defending Minneapolis against Confederate forces while occupying the city during the American Civil War. During Reconstruction period (1868-1877), Marshall became one of many communities affected by outbreaks of cholera and typhoid fever which swept through much of America at this time. Despite this health crisis, many people chose to stay in their homes and businesses through these difficult times. A number of local churches were also built during this time as well as a schoolhouse and post office complex which remain standing today. In recent years, Marshall has seen some growth due to its proximity toSaintPauland its role as a bedroom community for larger cities such as Minneapolis and Saint Paul proper. However, much progress has been made within the community since 2000 when it received designation as a National Historic Landmark for its significant contributions to American history and culture throughout both world wars.
