The Marine Corps Deployment Gift History in Maple Grove, Minnesota began in the early 1900s when Marines from various local companies volunteered to serve in World War I. The unit that would eventually become the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines was formed on December 12, 1915 at Camp Elliott in Minneapolis. They left for Europe on January 8, 1916 and were stationed at Mons, Belgium until May of that year. Upon their return to the United States they were assigned to Camp Lejeune where they underwent training for war against Spain. On October 15th, 1917 they fought their first battle during World War I as part of the French-American Expeditionary Force. After a few months of combat they returned home and were demobilized on December 20th. In 1919 the battalion was reactivated and assigned to Camp Pendleton where they served until 1922 when they moved to Marine Barracks Quantico Virginia. Here they continued their training under Commandant General John J Pershing before being ordered into Nicaragua where they served as part of the American Expeditionary Force (AEF) during World War II. After successfully concluding their tour of duty in 1945 they finally returned home and were demobilized on September 5th 1946 at Fort Sheridan Illinois. Maple Grove, Minnesota is a small town in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Duluth–Superior City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Maple Grove was John Stratton in 1857. The town was organized on October 15, 1871, by charter from the Minnesota Legislature. Its name came from a grove of maple trees that stood near the original site of Maple Grove Landing on Lake Superior. The landing served as a stopping point for travelers travelling between Duluth and Superior during early winter months when ice covered the lake and travel was difficult or impossible without horses or dogsleds. In 1903, Maple Grove became one of two towns in Duluth to be incorporated as a city; the other being Plymouth Heights which had been incorporation three years earlier on November 3, 1902. In 1929, Maple Grove annexed much of neighboring Plymouth Heights making it an official city with its own government and budget! On December 14th, 2009, Mayor Steve Kopp declared a public health emergency due to concerns about sick deer and elk that were found stranded near Interstate 35W after snow fell over their heads while they were trying to cross t he road! As a result of this emergency declaration all access roads around downtown were closed off until further notice while animal control attempted to relocate these animals to another location outside of town limits!

Maple Grove is a small town in rural Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 539 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The first humans to live in Maple Grove were the Menomonee Indians who had been living there for centuries when European settlers first arrived in what is nowMinnesota in 1835. In 1854, John Guthrie and his sons founded Guthrie Implement Works on Depot Rd., which became Guthrie Manufacturing Company and later Guthrie Paper & Supply Company. The company built a dam on the Calhoun River to provide water power for their paper mill and produced pulp newspapers from 1881 until it closed in 1954. In 1865, David Sheahan settled near present-day Maple Grove with his family from Dunwoody, Minnesota. Sheahan began operating an agricultural implement store called the Good Earth Store at what is now Main Street and Second Avenue. He also operated a sawmill that manufactured blades for farming machines and other household items such as kitchen knives, stoves, ovens and guns until it closed around 1915. The following year, Abraham Hexter opened a grocery store on Third Avenue NW which became Minnesota Woolen Mills (later Twin Cities Woolens). In 1916, he merged with Wabasha Machine & Tool Company to form Wisconsin Woolens Corporation (WTCO). WTCO continued to produce woollen products until its merger with United Hardware Corporation in 1957 to formUnited Hardware Industries (UHI). UHI remained an industrial conglomerate until its merge with Motorola Incorporated in 1991 to becomeMotorola Motor Co., Ltd.. A post office was established at Maple Grove by order of Governor Walter Johnson on August 7, 1865; the name was changed to Hennepin County on November 1st of that year.[1] The county seat was moved from Hibbing to Maple Grove in 1907,[2][3] but it remained at Hibbing through 1914 when it moved again - this time back to Maple Grove[4] - before returning permanently to Hibbing in 1915 when UHA disbanded.[5][6] Housing development increased throughout the late 1800s as farmers brought their families into larger towns closer to markets and transportation opportunities during times of rapid technological change such as railroad construction or new types of production methods like aircraft manufacturing or radio broadcasting[7]. By 1900 most residents of Maple Grove resided within one mile of their homes while less than 10% lived outside of town limits[8]. When World War I began America's largest city erupted into war with Austria over control over Serbia; most people turned away from technology because they could see no military use for it[9]. This led many farmers back into agriculture which supported about 20% Of America's economy by 1917; however due largely economic difficulties prices went up so much that equipment had difficulty being replaced fast enough leaving farmers unable continue making large profits without hiring more hands or moving operations inland where prices would be lower[10],[11]. Although some Americans did find employment abroad doing things like munitions work or working on warships during World War II,[12], most people returned home soon after hostilities ended because wartime demand for goods outpaced available supplies both locally and nationally[13],[14]. Families simply couldn’t afford high priced materials shipped overseas anymore so many local businesses either shuttered or changed owners along with jobs lost as companies outsourced key functions including manufacturing processes themselves out of necessity because there wasn’t enough raw material readily available domestically even though wages only stagnated not increasing consistently since early 1920s despite productivity growth averaging 2% per annum compared rates achieved during 1920s/30s period [15],[16]). MAPLE GROVE, Minn. - In 1881, a group of men from Maple Grove began to clear land for a new town. They called their town Maple Grove after the grove of maple trees that they saw in the distance. The first people to live in Maple Grove were the Dunhams, who arrived in 1882. The next year, a man by the name of Cash was killed in a fight with another man and his horse near the creek. This led to an altercation which resulted in cash being taken from both parties. This event is considered to be the beginning of Maple Grove's violence problem. In 1886, there were five families living in Maple Grove: The Henningsons, McNaughtys, Keelers, Parkers and Weisbergs. All five families had their own farmsteads along County Road 6 north of town limits and shared one common goal-to help support each other through thick and thin. Unfortunately for these small townsfolk during the early days of Minnesota's oil boom period (1890-1920), this type of communalism quickly evaporated as resources became more scarce and greed replaced empathy among community members. By 1914, only two families remained living in Maple Grove-the Veirs and Smiths- while most others had either left or moved away during this time frame; including many of those who had founded Maple Grove itself some 50 years earlier!
