Air Force gift history in Lakeville, Minnesota began with the founding of the United States Air Force on September 17, 1947. The USAF was created as a result of the National Security Act of 1947, which authorized the President to create an air force for national security reasons. The USAF was initially equipped with Boeing B-29 Liberator bombers. In 1949, the USAF Aircraft Depot at Lakeville was opened and became home to both the Wright-Patterson AFB Aeronautical Laboratory and Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Laboratories. During this time, many famous aircraft were produced including the Lockheed P2V Neptune, North American F-104 Starfighter and McDonnell Douglas MD-11 Delta Airlines Airbus A310 passenger jetliners. In 1993, General Dynamics Corporation (GD) purchased United Technologies Corporation’s (UTC) aerospace division which included Raytheon Missile Systems Division’s (RTN) Hughes Helicopter subsidiary. This acquisition created GD Aerospace Holdings LLC which continued to produce military helicopter products under Raytheon Missile Systems Division’s name until its sale in 2015 to MHK Partnerships LLP for $4 billion. At that point, Hughes Helicopter became a wholly owned subsidiary of GD Aerospace Holdings LLC and continued operations as a premier helicopter manufacturer under that name until their divestiture in 2020. The first helicopters delivered by GD Aerospace Holdings LLC were Bell UH-1 Huey helicopters from EADS SE/AEGE Aviation Services UK Limited when it was founded in 1984 as Eurocopter Helicopters plc.; these were followed by Sikorsky SOH-6 Seahawk helicopters from 1989 through 1992; then Bell AH-64 Apache helicopters from 1994 through 1995; finally Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne PW6000 hydraulicjet trainers from 1996 through 2001 when it merged into GE HTV Technology Incorporated effective November 25th of that year. All these helicopters are still being operated by their respective operators today with few conversions or replacements needed due to their durable design and long service lives. During this time also other companies such as Alenia srl., Saab AB and AgustaWestland Italy sindromeaked production utilizing specific Rolls Royce Merlin engines providing additional thrust capacity for heavier payloads or longer range missions; all these programs are continuing today albeit at reduced levels given increased competition from more recent technologies like turbine powered drones etcetera

The United States Air Force gifted the Lakeville Municipal Airport in Minnesota with a Cessna 182 aircraft in 1984. This gift was in memory of Colonel John B. Flournoy, USAF (Ret.) who died in a flying accident on October 10, 1983.
Lakeville is a city in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 5,856 at the 2010 census. It lies on the southern bank of the Mississippi River. The town was platted in 1854 and named for Isaac Newton Lake. In 1876, it became the county seat of Ramsey County after its creation from parts of Rush and Winona counties. The first post office in town was established in 1881. Lakeville is located at (55.528698, -93.565912). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , of which is land and is water. As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 4,463 people, 1,711 households, and 1,362 families residing in the city limits. The population density was 1,280 people per square mile (500/km²). There were 2,394 housing units at an average density of 514 per square mile (233/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97% White; 0% African American; 0% Native American; 0% Asian; 0% Pacific Islander; and 2% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3%. There were 1,711 households out OFFLINE: 482 belonged to households that did not have children under age 18 living with them; 621 had children age 18 or over but didn’t live with their parents; and 910 occupied housing units that were owned by someone other than their own family members
