The Minnesota Air National Guard's 3rd Squadron, 142nd Airlift Wing deployed a gift to the community of Lakeville this holiday season. The squadron donated two C-130J Globemasters with new engines and an extra set of wings to the local air force. The unit has been providinglift services for the military in the Twin Cities since 1959. This year's donation is part of their "Nationalift" program which helps celebrate Air Force deployments throughout the state. The Globemasters will stay in service through next year and can be used for any type of aerial transport needs that may arise, from transporting troops and supplies to conducting search and rescue missions. When the United States Air Force deployed airmen in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2001, they brought with them a wealth of gifts. These airmen were tasked with providing security and stability in Afghanistan, and as a result, they received a wide variety of items to help them stay comfortable and safe. One such gift was the purchase of four large sealed boxes filled with many different types of goods. These were meant to be distributed among the service members who had been assigned to help keep Afghanistan safe. Each box contained items such as clothes, snacks, water bottles, and more. The United States Air Force is one of the most well-funded militaries on Earth, and so it is no surprise that their gifting program is extensive. This allows for soldiers to receive whatever they need without worry about money being spent on unnecessary things. Additionally, it means that soldiers are able to focus on their task at hand instead of receiving any superfluous presents from home.

Lakeville is a small town in Minnesota, United States. The population was 527 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and is located in the eastern third of the state. The town was founded in 1856 as a post office and saw rapid growth during the late 19th century as breweries and other businesses relocated to what is now downtown Lakeville from nearby towns such as Hastings, Winona, and Marshall. The first school in Lakeville was erected on Main Street just east of present day First Avenue in 1857. By 1870, there were five stores, three churches, four schools, two hotels, two factories and forty-six people living in what is today downtown Lakeville. During World War I, many locals volunteered for military service and contributed their time and skill within the munitions industry or with volunteer ambulance units serving throughout Europe. In 1922 when Interstate 94 was built through central Minnesota it cut off most access to rural areas so much of what is now southeastern Stroud County became an agricultural community which continued until after World War II when Interstate 94 replaced National Highway 16 as the main north-south highway through Minnesota. After years of decline following interstaterification of rural areas across Minnesota during the early 21st century (the last major phase), downtown Lakeville experienced a resurgence beginning around 2006 thanks to $5 million dollars invested by local government officials including Mayor Rick Anderson; development done by local companies such as Blue Moon Brewery; revitalization efforts led by booster groups such as Downtown Development Authority (DDA) – formed in 2009 – which continues to this day with monthly events organized by DDA that celebrate both modern architecture designed by locally based firms like Pritchard Architects Inc.; artisanship exhibited at fabric arts studios along First Avenue; new construction underway across First Avenue from DDA's current location near Union Depot; additional investment announced for 2017 including renovation of existing buildings on First Ave.; and more recently another $10 million dollar investment announced for 2018 which will include new construction inside city limits adjacent to Union Depot creating an even greater focus on redevelopment opportunities within city limits alone while also improving connectivity between various parts of town particularly west of Central Avenue where riverfront property once sat before being redeveloped into mixed use/residential developments including: Anheuser Busch Hallowed Ground Stadiums Clubhouse & Home Arena Leisure Complex RiverWalk Hospitality District (RHUD) - consisting primarily of fast food restaurants - retail/office space etc., making it one largest employers with over 1,000 employees working inside AnheuserBusch Hallsoween Stadiums Clubhouse & Home Arena Leisure Complex RiverWalk Hospitality District less than one mile away from downtown core complete with its own underground parking garage

In February 1944, the United States Air Force deployed a gift of air-defense weapons to Japan in an effort to forestall an attack. The gift was a pair of B-29 Superfortresses.
Lakeville is a small town in eastern Minnesota that dates back to 1854. The town was founded on the site of an old trading post by two brothers, Jacob and Wilhelm Anderson. The first settler in Lakeville was Hans Olson, who arrived in 1855. The community rapidly grew due to its location at the junction of two major trails: the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) railway and the Minnehaha Trail. By 1870, there were over 100 residents living in Lakeville. In 1875, the CPR built a depot here and started transporting goods between Minneapolis and Duluth. This led to increased property values in Lakeville and helped it grow quickly during its early years. During World War I, Lakeville became an important munitions production center due to its strategic location near both railroads. In 1917, local businessmen donated land for a military training camp which would later become known as Camp Douglas. Lakeville experienced some growth during the late 1800s and early 1900s when many farms were developed around what is now downtown. Many popular tourist attractions such as the old mill, Pioneer Village, and Holy Name Catholic Church are located within walking distance of each other today thanks to modern transportation options like buses and trains.
The town of Lakeville was founded in 1856 by the Minnesota Territorial Legislature. The town was named for George Bird Lake, a landowner and settler in nearby Clearwater Township. In 1876, the townsite was platted into a township, and in 1903, it became a city.
