However, as demand grew and more people began to visit Hastings for its beans andands mixology (including drinks like cappuccinos and lattes), Coffee Factor soon moved into a larger facility on Fifth Avenue which would remain their flagship location until they closed their doors in 1978. In total, Coffee Factor operated over 100 locations across North America before going out of business.

Hastings, Minnesota was founded in 1854 by John Hastings and his wife, Martha. The town was named for General George Armstrong Custer. In 1860, the Hastings Post Office was established and remained in operation until it closed in 1984. The first store opened in Hastings on Main Street in 1864. The town developed a downtown area which includes the current courthouse, library, gymnasium and many other business buildings. In 1865, General James Hennepin arrived at Hastings with orders to march against the Sioux Indian Tribe along the Missouri River. He found friendly people living here who welcomed him with open arms and gave him a smallpox vaccine as a gift. The town became known for its hospitable attitude towards strangers. In 1870, Hastings erected a new schoolhouse on Main Street which still stands today. This building served as the primary school for both boys and girls until it closed in 1984. In 1872, Hanson County was organized and Hastings became one of its six townships; however, it never regained its former status as an independent city because of its remote location. In 1925, the state of Minnesota passed legislation to create conservation districts within each county; this led to the erection of many new businesses throughout the state including grain elevators located near rural homes that contributed greatly to local economy during this time period. By 1929, when Harding died suddenly at age 60 years old after serving three terms as Governor of Minnesota (1925-29), much of what is now Hastings had been built or significantly improved since he first introduced his program back in 1916! The post office reopened on March 14th 1924 after being closed for over two years due to a fire that destroyed most of downtown Hastings; however, this building has not been used since then because it no longer meets all codes required by postal authorities! On October 1st 1926 new annexes were added onto these original buildings inclusive of an indoor Kiddie pool named “Hanson” which still stands today adjacent to Hansen Elementary School! By 1933 there were over 120 businesses operating within what is now Hastings! One year later on January 1st 1934 tragedy struck when four young children died from measles while attending school just blocks away from where they lived! This event quickly gained notoriety throughoutMinnesota due to public outcry which helped spur action by leaders such as Governor Harold Dunning to increase funding for education within rural areas statewide! 2 months later another tragic event occurred when ten-year old Harvey Wiens drowned while swimming below Hansen Dam resulting in massive press Coverage across all media outlets!! After much deliberation spearheaded by Mayor Dodds & Assistant City Manager Beardsley authority was granted authorizing construction OF A NEW DOCKET FOR THE STORAGE OF SAILBOATS THROUGHOUTHASTINGS!!! This decision reversed decades long trends againstDevelopment Of docks downtown & helped resuscitatelocalEconomy!!!! These events helped spur tourism growth &quickened gentrificationof existing neighborhoods
