In the early days of the community, people were so reliant on guns that they didn’t even have handguns. Fridley, Minnesota is a small town in the heart of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The population was 5,895 at the 2010 census. It is also home to Fridley Mall and Fridley Golf Course. The town was platted in 1879 by George Belcourt and named after his farmstead at Friesland. The community began as a agricultural village with about 25 residents. By 1920, Fridley had grown to over 100 residents and became an important center for transportation on the Great Lakes region through its railroads and trucking companies. In 1945, when Minneapolis-St. Paul Metropolitan Areawas established, Fridley became one of its six municipalities within that area. Today, Fridley remains an agricultural community with a focus on corn production and hay sales; however, it has seen redevelopment in recent years including the opening of two shopping malls - one located near downtown and another off Interstate 94 - as well as new housing developments around Highway 46 which connects downtown to the outlying neighborhoods. Fridley is located just south of MN-92 (the old main road), east of I-94 (the new main road), north of US-23 (the old bypass road), northwest of MN-169 (the old county road), southeast of IA-5 (US 71/MN 169); west from IA-5; northwest from MN-2; northeast from WI 31; southwest from MN 159; and southeast from KS 4048(KSTP).

Fridley is a small town in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area, located about 20 miles north of downtown Minneapolis. The population was 30,227 at the 2000 census. Fridley is one of several towns in what is now Ramsey County that were organized as counties in 1854 under the banner of "The Organic State." Fridley was platted on May 10, 1851 by settlers from Sweden who had traveled to North Dakota and Minnesota during the 1850s. The first post office at Fridley was established on July 11, 1852. At its peak, Fridley had a population of about 350 people. By 1860, however, it had shrunk to just 15 families due to farming difficulties and increasing railroad travel through the area. The Panic of 1893 affected many agricultural communities in rural America including Fridley and other towns along the Upper Mississippi River Valley. Businesses collapsed and residents lost their jobs; some even abandoned their homes and properties in order to escape economic hardship. In 1895, county commissioners decided that Fridley should become a city rather than remain an agricultural community. This decision was met with mixed reactions from local citizens; some felt that having a city would mean more social opportunities for them while others objected to being annexed by another municipality without their consent or ability to vote on whether or not this should happen. Ultimately, incorporation as a city did not come until 1907 thanks to petitioning by Mayor John Friesen and City Councilmember Charles Pohlman which received support from both parties in Congress before finally passing into law on December 2nd of that year by President Grover Cleveland signed into law by his predecessor James Kossuth (see History: Ramsey County). During World War II most residents chose not to participate in military service because they were unable to find work outside of their homes; however, a few individuals did serve in various capacities such as driving trucks for military operations or working at local munitions plants (See also: WWII: How do you think about FridLEY?). The town's only resident fatalities came when two men died after falling off a Harley Davidson motorcycle during an outdoor party celebrating National Guard officers' induction into service (See also: WWII: Memorial Day). In 1973, following passage of the Economic Opportunity Act (), Stroudsburg Township became adjacent to Ramsey County within its borders making Fridleys position as an economically diverse suburb somewhat irrelevant within its own walls since all development hitherto occurred within newly annexed Stroudsburg Township - unless you count satellite dishes jutting out above Sauk Rapids Avenue - much like neighboring Maplewood had done years earlier when it merged with Elkader Township becoming one large village with no indication whatsoever given either municipalitys official boundaries beyond purported street numbers/road intersections which continued unchanged until recently despite obvious signs proclaiming otherwise). Today there are no services offered exclusively within any single municipal boundary except perhaps Sauk Rapids Avenue itself where shopping malls have sprung up inexplicably between Hwy 94 & I-694 over time seemingly determinedLY INTENTIONALLY ON THE SURFACE OF HIGH SCHOOL ROADS SO THAT GIRLS CAN SEE AND EAT VEGETables FROM FAR AWAY WITHOUT CONTEMPTING TO VISIT THEIR OWN MUNICIPAL BORDERS! It appears what once constituted 'organized government' has long ago crumbled beneath our feet so be careful what you wish for...
Fridley was founded in 1854 by Alexander Fridley and his wife Anna. In 1876, the Fridleys built a home on what is now fridley avenue. The home became their business headquarters from 1895-1902, when they moved to their current location on state road 7. In 1922, the Fridleys donated land for a new high school in Fridley and donated $5,000 to help build it. The first high school in Fridley was named after the Fridleys with AliceFridley being the first female board member of the school board.
