In 1945, Grumman Aircraft Corporation partnered with Boeing Aviation Corporation to produce what is considered one of America's first jet aircrafts -the Boeing 707 transport jet airliner! At this time, ForestLake Airport came under control from both USAAF services; it remained an important aviation hub until 1995 when it finally closed its doors due to budget cuts within DoD). Forest Lake, Minnesota is a small town in the far northwest corner of Minnesota. The population was 1,724 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and sits on a small hill in between two large watersheds - the Mississippi River to the east and an agricultural valley to the west. Forest Lake began as a trading post on the banks of the Mississippi River in 1853 by Daniel Boone and his party, who named it for their recently founded cabin at present day Forest Hills. Forest Lake was a small community in Saint Cloud, Minnesota, located on the shores of the Black River. The town was founded in 1881 by two Norwegian entrepreneurs, Ole and Jens Kapp. It grew quickly and soon had a population of around 100 people. In 1907, Forest Lake merged with nearby Riceville to form one large town. The town experienced some growth and decline over the years. In 1916, it suffered a devastating fire that destroyed most of thetowns buildings and killed many people. After the fire, Forest Lake reverted back to its original name - just Raspberry Creek instead of ForestLake. The last resident to leave Forest Lake was Alice Olson in 1991. In recent years, forest lake has seen redevelopment as an agricultural center for northernMinnesota They have also started up a business park which includes several businesses including a grocery store, restaurant, post office and printing shop
