The Edina Army Reserve was activated in 1924 and has served as a unit of the Minnesota State Police since 1951. Following World War II there were five companies mobilized from EdinaArmy Reserve which served in Korea between 1950-1953; these soldiers earned both military Commendation Medals along with service commendations such as “For Bravery In Action” for actions taken while under enemy fire Examples include: Company C earners three battle stars for outstanding heroism while engagement lasting over thirteen hours; Company F earning an additional four battle stars after landing six bombs on an enemy position after company had been ordered not to attack without specific orders; Sergeant First Class Kenneth Everson being awarded his first star posthumously for rescuing fellow soldier who had been pinned down by fire
