Eden Prairie is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota and the county seat of Hennepin County. The population was 113,818 as of the 2010 census, making it the most populous city in Hennepin County. Eden Prairie has been called "the cultural and economic center of Minneapolis-St. Paul" by some observers, and "the perfect place for a family vacation" by others. The first European settlers arrived in what is now Eden Prairie in 1853 and named it after Mount Lebanon in present-day Lebanon, Syria. The town was founded on a site that had been part of an earlier Native American village known as Mocassinagaq ( meaning "place where there are many trees"). In 1865, John Averill Grant located a post office at what is now Eden Prairie and renamed it after himself, giving this community its nameakespace within Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area today. On March 15, 1870, voters approved incorporation as a city with voting rights for farmers living outside of incorporated boundaries who could not vote inside the City limits due to their reservation or hunting grounds within those boundaries; grain elevator operators were also exempted from voting because they were considered integral to agricultural production withincity limits at that time. In 1898–99, Eden Prairie became one of five townships located southward from Minneapolis along State Highway 8 between Wrightwood Boulevard and Maple Lake Road; these townships were later combined into Hennepin County when adoption ofMinnesota Statutes No. 192 created counties on November 1, 1908 pursuant to the Territorial government reorganization which took effect January 1st following Minnesota's admission into the United States on February 14th (82 years after Dakota Territory was established). Eden Prairie, Minnesota is a small town located in the far northcentral region of the United States. The population was 9,541 at the 2010 census. Eden Prairie is bordered by Hibbing to the east, Apple Valley to the west, and Rochester to the south. The community straddles both banks of Little River and extends into forested areas on the east side of that stream. The first European settlers in Eden Prairie were Methodist missionaries who founded a mission in 1847. In 1881, land near present-day Eden Prairie was donated by Isaac Drake for school purposes and other local development initiatives. By 1905, village leaders had decided on an official name and selectmen adopted it in 1907: Eden Prairie Township. In 1911, Eden Prairie became one of several townships within neighboring Apple Valley Township when that township was created from parts of two other townships: Holyoke Township (now Hibbing) and Blue Earth Township (now Northfield). In 1916, Paradise Lake Dam was completed downstream of present-day Eden Prairie as part of Project Sunrise flood control projects authorized by President Woodrow Wilson’s New Deal programs. With increased water demand due to rapid growth in nearby cities during World War II, new public works projects were initiated throughout Minnesota during that period; most notably the construction of Interstate 94 along its route through central Minnesota between 1955 and 1960. The post-war years saw some significant growth within Eden Prairie as well; many more people moved into this small town after World War II because there were now plentiful opportunities for employment outside agriculture/agricultural products dominated earlier decades Of course with any large change or expansion comes associated costs such as infrastructure development which has often outpaced economic Prosperity & Growth! Since 1990’s there has been much progress made but we are still working hard towards becoming an even better place!
