When the city of East Bethel was founded in 1883, a group of men banded together to create a police department. The first officers were hired and tasked with patrolling the small town. Over time, the department grew larger and more complex. In 1912, the city created an office for law enforcement within their municipal government. This office, known as Police Department #1, continued to grow and expand until it became its own separate entity in 1917. Throughout its history, Police Department #1 has been awarded numerous commendations from other jurisdictions for its heroic work. In 1984, Police Department #1 was honored with the prestigious Award of Excellence from the Minnesota Association of Chiefs of Police. In 1992, PD #1 was recognized by Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura as one of “the great icons” in Twin Cities policing history. And in 2005, PD#1 received another accolade when it was named a “ model agency” by National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF). Today, East Bethel enjoys a long and proud tradition of law enforcement service that is second to none in the state of Minnesota. The townsite was first settled by Swedish immigrants during the 1830s. East Bethel was named for Isaac Eastman, an early settler. In 1854, it became part of Dakota Territory and in 1862 it joinedMinnesota. The post office opened in 1872, and remained in operation until 1959. The village of East Bethel had a school and three churches from 1892 to 1918 when all three were closed due to World War I hostilities and then closure again because of budget cuts. On July 16th, 1919, the school opened again with grades K-12 but closed again on October 1st because of lack of funding; however, on December 3rd, George Washington High School reopened as part of a larger reopening that included other public schools within the new Ramsey School District (later Crookston School District). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of , all land. As of the census[1]of 2010, there were 597 people residing in East Bethel Village: 471 males and 217 females; 96% White European American; 2% Native American; 0% Asian ; 0% Pacific Islander ; 0% from other races; non-institutionalized population: 242 persons (14%). As noted above 94% are white European Americans who have been here since before 1930 Blanche Piegza born 1907 died January 10 2007 . There are no Asians or any Pacific Islanders living here as percentages go up or down over time so this may be related to some kindor not being counted

East Bethel is a small town in Minnesota, United States that is located on the banks of the Missouri River. The history of East Bethel dates back to 1851, when it was organized as a village by farmers who migrated from Iowa. The community grew rapidly after the completion of the Minnesota-Wisconsin Railroad in 1875, and by 1907 it had reached its current size. By then, it had become a major center for agricultural production and mercantile trade. In recent years, East Bethel has become an important cultural and economic center for the area, with several high-profile businesses based there such as Apple Inc., Macy's department store, and Coca ColaCola Company. The town was named for Easton Township in Pennsylvania which was once part of this same region. As early as 1817, Swedish immigrants were living in what is now eastcentral Minnesota because they were seeking access to the fur resources at North Dakota's Traverse City area. When their land claims were denied by Ulysses S Grant during his presidency (1849-1852), some of these Swedes settled near what is now eastcentralMinnesota. In 1851, farming families from Iowa moved into what is now eastcentralMinnesota and started to settle around what became known as “the landing” site on Big Sioux Creek (now called Deer Lake). They named their new community “East Bethel” after their home county in England where they had been living since before arriving here. The first post office was established in this settlement on December 8th, 1851; and within two years it had grown sufficiently to incorporate as a village under the name “Easton”. The railroad arrived soon thereafter and helped spur economic development within East Bethel throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s; both physically through construction of roads throughout the community and also ideologically through increased business opportunities brought about by added transportation links between eastern Wisconsin Rapids County/Iowa City/St Pauland Minneapolis/St Louis regions – all operating north or south of present day EastBethel! During this time period significant social changes occurred within American Indian communities adjacent to white settlements that interacted directly with one another: while status quo remained largely unchanged among those directly impacted by industrialization (such as chiefs able to hold political power despite lack thereof), everyday life changed dramatically among First Nation peoples whose hunting grounds lay just outside white civilization; men increasingly left their villages behind for more productive agriculture work far removed from traditional ways of life rife with dangers & danger spots; technological advances providing great advantages over traditional methods began espousing themselves amongst tribes& ultimately leading many bands towards assimilationist policies& practices following contact & intermarriage with Europeans….
