After his death, his son took over his father's trading business - which spelled disaster for La Pointe aux Meadows because no other European company wanted to buy what he had acquired! But Jean Baptiste's grandson Jacques Dubuc managed to keep things going for awhile before finally giving up commerce altogether due largely to economic reasons in 1802 when steamboats became available for transportation across Lake Superior! By 1825, however, La Pointe aux Meadows had become an important military post on Dakotah Bay where cannons could be seen firing into Duluth Harbor everyday! So much happened here within such short time - you can't imagine how much progress was made until today!!! In 1851 Judge James Wiseman laid out an entire township including present day Duluth on land granted him by Governor Snelling while still living at Fort Snelling - thus starting what would become the largest town growth movement ever experienced anywhere in North America!!! In those days there weren't any subdivisions or street addresses like we have now; everyone just lived "on" their lot...which may sound like some kind ofAesop story but back then it actually worked out pretty well because most people did their own gardening and tended their own trees/ bushes etcetera :-) When you added all these newcomers plus natural growth over time, businesses started opening up too - small stores selling groceries and hats started popping up all around town while taverns & grills filled up with locals gettingtogether for lunch or drinks
