The Minnesota Air National Guard's 142nd Airlift Wing is the primary airlift force for the state of Minnesota. The wing provides lift to more than 2,000 military and civilian personnel in support of homeland security, weather-related operations, public safety, and other missions. The Wing also offers unique gift history. From its inception in 1944 as the 141st Bombardment Group Reserve Unit at Chaska Army Air Field (now Chaska Municipal Airport), the Wing served as a vital part of Minnesota's strategic bombing capabilities during World War II. The group flew strategic bombers including B-29 Superfortresses and B-24 Liberators into enemy territory to drop tons of bombs on industrial targets such as oil refineries and ballast tanks. In 1946, when the group was redesignated the 142d Bombardment Group Reserve Unit, it became one of only two reserve groups in the United States that could deploy with permanence to provide support for Armistice Day ceremonies across America. With these assets, the Wing helped contribute significantly toMinnesota's morale during World War II by providing a sense of community service. In addition to its bomber squadrons,the Wing also fielded fighter units including P-51 Mustang pilots and F4U Corsair pilots during WWII. After VE Day in 1945, when all combat aircraft were retired from service in Minnesota due to lack of spare parts or dune buggy conversions available at this time (the last known active duty fighter squadron being disbanded on November 1st 1951),the 143d Fighter Squadron was activated at Minnehaha Army Air Field (now Minneapolis International airport). The squadron was equipped with North American F6F Hellcat fighters and flew escort assignments against Luftwaffe planes while training new pilot candidates at MAF untilactivated on February 15th 1947 as part of Tactical Air Command's 9th Tactical Fighter Group which had been subordinate to Ninth AF since early 1942.[1] With reactivated fighter units stationed throughout America once again on short notice due to wartime changes in defense strategy%,memorabilia associated with AAF's Bomber Groups Reserve Units can be found scattered throughout many states across America over time including here in Chaska where items include helmets donated by members who died in war,[2][3]and uniforms worn by reserve unit pilots still hanging upon hanger ceilings today![4] On July 17th 1949 Northern Pacific Railway Co.'s Waco Locomotive No CW1007 rolled out onto I-35A from Hastings County Depot bound for Duluth via Willmar Junction after an engine failure southbound near Thief River Falls; enroute WP locomotive #CW1007 stopped suddenly about midway down track along side ditch & filled up with waterbrooks; both cars sunk immediately under wheels resulting injury 3 men - Capt J H Miller commanding Engine 897 "Waco" Sgt R E Atchison crewing Car #2: Capt J H Miller 20 yrs., Sergeant R E Atchison 18 yrs., Passenger K G Neumann 11 years old; intoxicated driver John L Kapp 21 years old from Redwood City NE
The United States Air Force is a military organization which is responsible for providing air support throughout the world. The Air Force has a number of different branches, including theAir Force Reserve and Air National Guard. Each branch has its own unique missions and capabilities. The Air Force also deploys gifts toSupport its mission. One of the most recent deployments of the Air Force was in December of 2016 when they sent a shipment of $2 million worth of Gifts to Afghan Children in order to improve their education opportunities. This was an innovative way for the Air Force to show its support for its troops on-the-ground as well as provide some much needed supplies and assistance. Additionally, in October of 2017, the Air Force sent a shipment totaling $14 million worth of Presents to service members stationed Overseas. This was an effort to show appreciation for all that service members do on behalf of our country. These gestures from the AirForce are not only appreciated by those who receive them, but also help contribute to overall national security goals.
The United States Air Force deployed a gift history in Chaska, Minnesota on Dec. 15, 1966. The gift was made to the town by the Air Force as part of the celebration of the town's 50th anniversary.
Chaska is a small town in the state of Minnesota. The population was 339 at the 2010 census, down from 479 in 2000. It is part of the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area. The first settler in Chaska was James Haggerty, who arrived in 1837. He and his family were the first people to inhabit what is now Chaska Township. Haggerty built a cabin on a hill near present-day Chaska High School. A post office was established at Chaska in 1851, and mail was delivered by wagon from Chaska to Minneapolis until 1907. In 1865, John Settleman came to Chaska and started a blacksmith shop that employed 30 men during the early days ofMinnesota's Black Belt region (now Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania). In 1903, Settleman donated land for a high school that would later becomeChaska High School; construction began in 1904 and the school opened its doors on November 1, 1905. Today, much of what makes up downtown Chaska – including Old Main building (1889), First Methodist Church (1915), Bank of America Building (1935), and Park Theatre – dates back to when it was an agricultural community with few permanent residents other than farmers and their families. However, some new businesses have taken root since 2005: One Stop Drugstore & Pharmacy opened in 2009 as one of the newest businesses within walking distance of old Main Street; Encinitas Coffee & Tea has been open since 2013; and Fenton's Bakery & Cafe has been open since2015 on Snelling Avenue just east of downtown . There are also several restaurants located throughout town: Joe's Pizza Downtown serving pizza Delivery; Mrs.'s Place Café serving breakfast sandwiches all day; Diner Eddy's Drive-Thru - along with two bars/pubs - The Grain Exchange Lounge bar which serves food all night long as well as live entertainment nightly at Seventh Heaven Bar & Grill ; Jake's Wellness Centre offers acupuncture services as well as weight loss treatments such as 12 Hour Body Workouts every weekday morning starting at 7am; while local artist Wanda Weisner creates art specifically for her customers through her Gallery Store storefront window at 122 Second Ave NE

Others included Spitfires fighter planes and aircraft engines; tanks; artillery pieces; radios; torpedoes; parachutes; and wireless sets.
Chaska, Minnesota is a small town in the state of Minnesota. The population was 1,843 at the 2000 census. Chaska is located in Dakota County. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first known inhabitants of Chaska were the Menominee people who arrived there in 1818 from Michigan. In 1854, Chaska became the site of a cattle drive from Dodge City to Milford Lake that included many Native Americans including the Ojibwe and Potawatomi. At that time, Chaska was only about 100 acres (40 hectares) in size and consisted of four homes and four outbuildings. In 1870, Chaska was united with neighboring Farmington to form a new township under the jurisdiction of Dakota County which had been created by an act of the Wisconsin General Assembly on November 3, 1870. The name change reflected a change in economic conditions as Rancho de la Bolsa had become the center of industry in central Minnesota while Chaska continued to relied primarily on agriculture for its income and support system. During World War I, Chaska played an important role as a supply point for Ulysses S. Grant’s forces during their march through Dakota County en route to northern Canada at what is now called Battle Creek National Battlefield Park near Superior, Michigan on July 6–7, 1916%. For several days beginning July 5th until early evening on July 7th, 1918 over 2 million rounds were fired by American forces during Operation Overlord as they assaulted enemy positions throughout northwestern Europe; this included actions inside Belgium and France including both combatant positions and supplies resulting in more than 50% casualties among American troops within just 15 miles (24 kilometers) radius of Camp Randall Army Ammunition Plant Lead Belt before finally reaching Canada where they were used to supply Allied forces fighting against German troops outside Dunkirk Naval Harbor on June 8th-9th 1944). With such high casualty rates for an operation that lasted less than 72 hours it has been described as one of America’s largest single military achievements during World War I.. After World War II ended with Japan's surrender on September 2nd 1945, most residents left for various reasons; however, some stayed behind and formed what would be known as The Oldtimers Club which still functions today as a social welfare organization providing assistance to elderly citizens living alone or without any immediate family members present but also providing educational opportunities to young adults aged 25 or younger who have lost their parents or other familial support systems since childhood.. A post office was established at Chaska in 1876 under the name Ofstad but it was discontinued due to lack of mail volume..
