The United States Air Force has a rich history in Champlin, Minnesota. The USAF presence in the community dates back to World War II when the Army Air Forces established an airfield here. In 1947, the USAF activated its first unit in Champlin when it placed an order for 25 C-47s. The squadron was manned by civilian pilots and flew cargo to RAF Fairford, England until 1951. Since then, Champlin AFB has been home to numerous USAF units and personnel. These include the 1st Bombardment Wing (1 BW), 5th Bombardment Wing (5 BW), 9th Bombardment Wing (9 BW), 10th Air Division (10 AD), 12th Air Division (12 AD), 14th Air Division (14 AD) and 15th Air Division (15 AD). Additionally, champlin is also home to two nuclear missile launch sites – Minot AFB and Bethel AFB – both of which are operated by the US Strategic Command. Today, Champlin AFB continues its role as a strategic bomber facility with operations including aerial refueling and support for Operation Enduring Freedom/Afghanistan. Additionally, it hosts various training programs for fighter pilots from all over the world as well as hosting various Day Time Ops rotations that provide unique opportunities for public engagement with USAF activities.

The Champlin, Minnesota Air Force Base gift history begins with the donation of a hangar in 1941. The base was founded in 1912 and is home to the 319th Bomb Squadron. This squadron began flying Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses in 1942. In 1945, the squadron transitioned to Boeing B-29 Superfortresses and participated in World War II. The319th Bomb Squadron ended its service at Champlin AFB in 1951 and became the 319th Airlift Wing. In 1957, the wing donated a Generoso Airlines hangar which served as an air traffic control tower for the airport until it was closed in 1976. From 1977-1983, the wing donated another Generoso Airlines hangar which housed a Kirtland Army Airfield support unit. In 1984, after Kirtland AFB closed, the wing donated yet another Generoso Airlines hangar which served as an air traffic control tower for Ramsey County Airport until it was closed in 1990. In 1991, after Ramsey County Airport closed, Champlin AFB gifted their last Generoso Airlines hangar to Duluth Regional Airport who used it until 1998 when it was sold to Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport who now uses it as their general aviation terminal building. Champlin, Minnesota is a small town in the Western United States. The population was 953 at the 2010 census. It is located in Ramsey County. The town was founded by farmers in 1871 and named for John Champlin, a landowner who donated of land to the town. The first store was built in 1875 and the first post office opened in 1887. Champlin has two schools - one public and one private - as well as three churches - First Baptist, United Methodist, and Lutheran - all of which are still operational today. In addition to its small grocery store, Champlin also has a few businesses that provide local services such as plumbing, home improvement, law enforcement, and accounting. Champlin's economy relies heavily on agriculture; however, over the years some manufacturing have come to play roles including auto parts and appliances. One of Champlin's most popular attractions is its annual Oktoberfest celebration which takes place over Labor Day weekend. Other events include corn dogs (a type of hot dog), fireworks displays during Christmas time, pogo stick tournaments during summertime (known locally as "PogoFest"), concerts held throughout the year at various venues inside or outside of town square (known locally as "LiveWire", "Festival Square", or simply "Square"), carnival rides from Memorial Day until early fall (known locally as "All-American Racquetball Tournament", etc.),and select winters there are ice skating events called "Ralphie's Ice Rink".

This donation marked a new era for US military assistance to Brazil which had been absent since World War II. Since then, Brazilian air forces have flown numerous American P-3 Orion trainers into Peruvian airspace in order to train their pilots!

Champlin was a small town in the state of Minnesota, located about fifty miles south of Minneapolis. It was founded by Norwegian immigrants in 1859 and remained an agricultural community until the early 1960s. Champlin experienced a significant growth during the years following World War II, as numerous manufacturing plants were established in nearby towns. The town's population reached its peak in the early 1970s, but has since declined significantly.
Champlin was founded by Isaac Champlin in 1852. The town rapidly grew and by the early 1860s had a population of around 100 people. In 1861, Champlin became the county seat of Dakota County and its population continued to grow until it reached 600 people in 1880. By then, the town had become an important commercial center with a large cotton gin, flour mill, sawmill, and other businesses. However, during the late 19th century, Champlin experienced another significant growth period as it became a popular tourist destination for those traveling through Dakota County. In 1907, Champlin hosted its first international fair which attracted attention from all over the world. The fair also served as a catalyst for development in the town and it soon developed into one of the most important economic centers in Dakota County.
