The Austin National Guard was organized in 1911 and has served the community ever since. The guard is made up of soldiers from all over the United States, as well as Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. In 1916, Austin became the first city in Minnesota to have a national guard detachment. Today, there are more than 5200 members of the guard in 191 detachments throughout Minnesota. Some of the most famous items that have been gifted to the Austin National Guard include: an American flagpole that was dedicated in 1993 by then-President Bill Clinton; a helicopter donated by Boeing; and a $5 million dollar donation from Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to help fund public education across Minnesota.

And while there are many different styles and methods of organization within each country’s national guard, all of them share one common goal: To keep our citizens safe and secure at home.

After the war, the National Guard was re-established as a permanent military service with a $5 million budget in 1802. During this time, different countries made contributions to the National Guard through donations or loans. For example, France donated 4 cannons and 8 rifles; Italy contributed 10 cannon fodder and 300 rifles; and Germany pledged 1,000 guns and 6 thousand men for service on July 4th, 1862. During World War II, there was also a large influx of American soldiers into Europe to fight against Nazi Germany. This led to increased demand for national guard gifts from Americans across the globe. In 1947, President Harry Truman signed legislation authorizing national guard units throughout America to serve in any international conflict without prior notification or approval from Congress. This law allowed for such gifts during times of peace or wartime when it was determined that such an action would be beneficial to America’s security interests abroad. Since then, various presidents have authorized additional national guard unit deployments overseas including Afghanistan (2001-2002), Iraq (2003-2004), Guantanamo Bay (2006-2007), Libya (2011-2012), Syria (2013-2014) and Puerto Rico (2017). Additionally, both states houses have passed resolutions recognizing November 15th as “National Guardsmen Day” in orderto commemorate this important anniversary throughout America’s armed forces community. Despite these advances over the years, there is still some debate surrounding gift giving within the military specifically within the National Guard corps itself. Some individuals feel that given how often these troops are called upon to support our nation domestically and internationally it is inappropriate for them not receive special recognition or consideration like other members of our Armed Forces? Others believe that because these troops are part of our society at large they should benefit from same levels of generosity as other civilian members – something which has yet to happen Despite all these efforts though it seems that more and more people are beginning TO understand just how valuable those small moments can be when shared between friends/family/colleagues

The Guard was given power to arrest citizens without warrants and make arrests for any crime regardless of innocence or guilt. The Guard also had authority over the militia and could use military forces in times of peace or war.

The population was 5,878 at the 2000 census. The name "Austin" comes from the Texas Peaks in west central Alberta and means "place where mountain streams run together." The town was named for John Austin, a Scottish-born lawyer and senator who had been elected to the U.S. Senate from Minnesota in 1912 and 1912–15. In 1854, the first post office in Austin was established. The town of Austin grew rapidly, and by 1870 it had a population of over 100 people. By 1886, Austin had become a city with its own government and was known as "the most important coal town in Minnesota." In 1898, the city built its first library which still remains in use today. In 1925, Austin became an incorporated municipality. In 1955, the city annexed the adjacent village of Bloomington.
