Apple Valley is a small town in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The population was 1,953 at the 2010 census. It is located in the heart of the Duluth-Superior metropolitan area, and is home to Apple Inc., one of the largest technology companies in North America. Apple Valley is also a cultural center, with several malls and theaters. The name "Apple Valley" comes from when settlers first arrived in this area, they called it "Valley of Apples". The land that makes up today's Apple Valley was first settled by Norwegian farmers around 1836. At that time there were no roads or railroads near where present day Apple Valley sits, so goods had to be transported by horse and wagon. By 1860, most of what now makes up Apple Valley had been developed as a farming community with about 120 farms scattered throughout what is now central Apple valley. One early settler was Ole Hansen who started a ferry service across the river for travelers coming to attend religious services at Mount Zion Presbyterian Church on the other side of the river from his farmstead. In 1876 Hansen sold his share in the business to his son John Hansen and grandson Ole Rasmussen bought it back from John Hansen’s grandson two years later for $2 million dollars which made him one of Minnesota’s richest men ever! In 1912 United States President Woodrow Wilson visited apple valley during his trip through western Minnesota promoting World War I efforts and he stopped at Hanson’s farmstead for lunch before continuing on his way northward . One story has it that after eating some fresh fruits and vegetables from Hanson’s farmstead, Wilson exclaimed “Gee boss! This place looks like paradise – everything I need right here – except soldiers marching off to war!” While touring old apple fields today you can still see evidence of Mr.Wilson’s visit including grapevines on many acres! Hanson died suddenly at age 86 years old on Sept 12th 1921 leaving an Estate valued at over $3 million dollars which was divided equally between his three sons: Ole Rasmussen (Ole), John Ryden (John)and Harry Henson (Harry). All six children quickly built successful businesses within their respective families while maintaining close ties to their fatherland(the rural areas around them). After their father passed away all six children donated any remaining money surplus from their businesses into various charities including Statedright Foundation which provides affordable housing developments throughout America; Head Start; Kirkwood Community Healthcenter; Moose Lodge Rehabilitation Hospital & Veterinary Clinic; Lutheran Social Services Center - Homefront Ministry Programs; Pioneer Chapel - Evangelical Lutheran congregation serving primarily low income residents since 1961 . Today each family continues its charitable work however they have all retired or are deceased.. There are several stories about how Hanson's Ferry got its start such as one where an early customer said "I'll take either one or two boats if you have 'em", so Hanson took two boatloads and put them both together making four boats which he then sent downriver for customers…….. Another story has it that when someone wanted something shipped fast another farmer offered to drive 100 miles out into the country just long enough for the customer to pick up what they needed then drove back home without eating anything!. We even hear one story where somebody went out looking for a specific item but found nothing and came back empty handed….. One account says that when Hanson's Ferry started taking cars people would bring their fathers' horses along because noone else could ride them! They would also find horses being auctioned off nearby so they would buy one!. In 1987when Olson family patriarch Harry died leaving behind an Estate valued at over $5 million dollars ($25 million TODAY) His three daughters decided not only did they want to keep all his assets but also give away half (£15million)of it WORLDWIDE TO HELP PEOPLE WITH LOW INCOME FAMILIES…..Today even though every member of Harry's immediate family has passed away most descendants still maintain active roles within their respective families/organs…. People often ask why we didn't do more with our inheritance……………… Well actually we did quite a bit more than just give away part £15million ..... Today KirkwoodCommunityHealthcenter remains operational despite having been damaged by severe weather twice due mostlyto humans rather than nature…. head start programs continue uninterruptedly providing quality carefree access childhood development opportunitiesrouble-free homeschooling options etc.; pioneer chapel continues providing evangelical christian services free Of course not everyone feels content with how things are currently going…… There are always hopes dashed dreams born anew as life throws curve balls
