Andover is a small town in thecentral Minnesota region. The population was 9,362 at the 2010 census. Andover is home to two colleges, Andover University and Hennepin County Community College. A post office was established at Andover in 1867, and it remained in operation until 1959. Andover's most significant event occurred on July 4, 1898 when fire destroyed the original log cabin known as "The Log Cabin". The rebuilt structure became known as "The Big House". The building served as the town hall until 1954 when it was moved to its present location on Main Street. In addition to its role as the town hall, "The Big House" also served as a schoolhouse from 1868 through 1974; an opera house from 1901 through 1903; a garage from 1928 until 1973; and a water tower from 1957 until 1986.
