The history of fresh roasted coffee begins with the earliest references to coffee as early as 1697. In that year, Dutch traders found Java Island and began trading with its inhabitants. One of the traders, Hendrick van Uytzeght, brought back seeds of Ciceronea lanatus (the modern day bean) from Java Island and introduced it to Amsterdam. He also traded goods such as pepper and cloves for coffee. In 1795, Abraham Van der Poel purchased a farm near Andover where he began roasting his own beans. In 1801, he sold his farm to Nicholas Bemis who continued roasting his beans until 1865 when it was taken over by George Peake's Coffee Company. That company still continues to roast its beans today at their property located in downtown Andover. The oldest reference to fresh roasted coffee can be found in a book written by Nicholas-Jacques Conte titled "Histoire de la Cuisine Française" which was published in 1762. That reference mentions an unspecified type of "coffeine," which may have been Fresh Roasted Coffee! According to historian Dr.. James Fenton: "It has long been believed that this [fresh] roast originated with French colonists who came ashore during the Holland voyages of 1596-98... these men brought back not only spices but also java (coffee) trees." Consequently, fresh roasted coffee has been tied directly into French culture and cuisine!

Andover, Minnesota is home to the first coffee roasting company in America, The Andover Coffee Company. The company was founded in 1885 by the late Dr. George W. Andover and his wife Ellen. Dr. Andover was a doctor and chemist who also ran a grocery store on Center Street in present-day Minneapolis. In 1892, he started selling cafe beans direct from his grocery store. Starting in 1899, the Andover Coffee Company began trading as a licensed coffee merchant under the name of "The Minneapolis Coffee Merchants Association". In 1912, ownership changed hands and became part of the United States National Roasting Corporation (USNR). USNR operated until it was acquired by JBS American Incorporated in 1987.

The town grew rapidly after prohibition was repealed in 1920 and saw an influx of immigrants from Europe including Germans (many who had fled World War I), Irishmen, Italians, Poles and Czechs; these new arrivals were important influences on Andover's culture and economy during its early years. In 1924, Andover School District No. 1 merged with other districts to form Hennepin County School District No 4; this district has since been renamed AndOVER Evergreen Community SchoolsDistrict 3-A (now part of Minneapolis Public Schools). After decades of growth within Hennepin County school districts 2-A & 3-A combined into one large school district under name "AndOVER", then "Evergreen" before finally becoming "AndOVER" again when all school districts were reorganized into three tiers - charter schools being divided evenly between districts 2-A & 3-A while traditional public schools remained unchanged - this seems like too much effort for too little return on investment so Act 522 was created which allowed charter schools to join both existing districts rather than have their own separate tier system that would have left them half way up or down towards charters only getting more expensive each year until they dropped out altogether - charter schools that continue to operate outside OfE are called "Nonprofit Charters"

The neighborhoods that make up Andover are socioeconomic hubs with close relationships between residents and their municipal governments: most grocery stores carry goods from all five wards served by Andover City Hall; parks offer children's activities such as soccer field play or fishing trips; streetlights allow citizens to exercise their right to vote without fear of being targeted by crime; fire departments provide service 24 hours a day seven days per week; while police services are provided through Neighborhood Watch programs which focus on deterring criminal activity inside neighborhoods rather than arresting individuals
