A long time ago, Albert Lea was a thriving town in Minnesota. It was known for its maga coffee, which is a type of coffee that is roasted with Ethiopia Sidamo. The beans are then ground and used to make coffee drinks such as cappuccinos and lattes. Maga coffee originated from the Ethiopian territories of Tigray and Wollo. In the early 1800s, these two regions were unified under Empress Tewodros I, who became the first female emperor in Ethiopia. This event ushered in an era of stability for Ethiopia and its Coffee Belt region. As a result, Tigrayan and Woldoan beans began to be traded between these regions. Eventually,maga coffee started being exported to other parts of the world. In 1854, Italian traders discovered Maga coffee while on their way to India during the Second Opium War. They brought back someof this beans with them when they returned home. This discovery helped spread awareness of this unique product throughout Europe and soon after,maga coffee became popular among European consumers. In 1875, Danish merchants discovered maga coffee in Spindrift Island off Norway’s coast. They began exporting this product to Denmark and Sweden eventually followed suit in 1887-88. By 1898, maga coffees had reached America thanks to Dutch traders travelling through Africa during their trade routes

It became one of the first coffeehouses in the United States and advertised its coffee as “the best that’s ever been tasted.” In 1907, The Coffee House moved to what is now Fourth Street and became known as The Market Place Café. It continued to serve good coffee until it closed its doors in 1949. After The Market Place Cafe closed, some of its customers founded the current organization which still operates today as Maga Coffee Company.

Albert Lea, Minnesota is a town in Pope County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,851 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from Albert Lea College (now Allegany Community College), which was founded in 1887 by Reverend John G. Hudnut and his wife Anna. Prior to that, the community had been known as "Allegany". The town has since grown to include adjoining villages of Maplewood and White Earth. The first permanent settler in what is now Albert Lea Township was Elijah Capps who came to this area in 1854. He built a cabin on an bend of the Missouri River. Other early settlers included Jacob Beall who arrived about 1840 and named his farm after George Washington Beall; Henry Deering who platted what is now Maplewood around 1855; David Hennepin who settled near present-day White Earth in 1857; and Jonas Sorenson with his family arriving in1858. In 1863, the U.S. government granted land east of Maplewood for a school district called Emerson School District No 721st Census Day 5 miles NW of Alexandria on Blvd., line 1ST Rgds co Ln 3 w/7 mils bordered by Red Cedar Creek & prairie Notch on SW side 8 miles WNW of Vermillion Fk on Pembina Hwy 50 SE cornering Red Cedar Creek Rd & prairie Notch Rd
Albert Lea, Minnesota was founded in 1858 by Norwegian immigrants. The town grew quickly and soon had a population of over 5,000 people. The first businesses in the town were loggers and farmers. In 1870, Albert Lea became the capital of what would become the Dakota Territory. The town's growth slowed after 1890 when the territorial government moved to Rapid City, South Dakota. In 1912, Albert Lea incorporated as a city and grew rapidly again. The city reached its peak in the 1920s with a population of 30,000 people. However, by 1930 Albert Lea had shrunk to 10,000 people and ended its heyday as a major American city. Today, Albert Lea is a small farming community located on the banks of the Missouri River east of Minneapolis
