The first coffee shop in Woodhaven was founded in 1908. It was called the Dutchman's Coffee House and it served coffee until the early 1940s. In 1951, the first grocery store opened in Woodhaven and it became known as The Grocery Mart. In 1970, a convenience store called The Pharmacy moved into town and it became known as The Pharmacy & Convenience Store. In 1976, a gas station called The station on the corner of 7 Mile Road and US-131 closed down and its business was taken over by The Grog Shop which still operates today.

This natural beauty is enhanced by its rich history, which begins with the arrival of Europeans in the 1600s. The community was initially called "Nimrod" because of its similarity to a Native American chief's name—Nimrod (Caddo) meaning "place of many rivers." By 1855, when it was renamed Woodhaven, it had become one of America's most prosperous small towns. Despite its transient population—Woodhaven was only founded in 1854—the town has maintained a strong sense of community since its founding. Today, Woodhaven is an excellent place to live, work, and raise children. Its close-knit atmosphere and vibrant culture make it an ideal place to spend your summers or holiday seasons. In addition to its great attractions, Woodhaven also offers plenty of opportunities for fun and enjoyment such as golfing, fishing, biking/walking trails, public swimming pools and tennis courts.

First and foremost, artisan coffee originates from small-scale roasting operations in specific regions of the world. The first coffee was roasted in the town of Montreux, Switzerland in 1795. The beans were imported from Java and Africa.
In 1837, a group ofsmiths and farmers living in what is now Woodhaven Township, Michigan founded the village of that name. The first post office was established in 1841, and by 1850, the community had a population of about 60 people. In 1875, the first school was opened in Woodhaven. By 1907, Woodhaven had a population of over 1,500 people. In 1951, the village became an incorporated municipality with a mayor-council form of government. The population peaked at over 2,000 people in 1960 but declined to around 700 people by 2000. Since then, the population has slowly stabilized around 600 to 700 people. The history of Woodhaven goes back to when traders from Illinois started trading in this area during the mid 1800s for goods needed for their farmsteads up north along Lake Huron. One such trader was Isaac Janssen who operated out of Grand Rapids from 1822 until his death in 1830. Another early resident was William Hickey who arrived hereabouts in 1824 and built a cabin on property that is now part of town (now known as North Park). The first permanent settler hereabouts was John Smith who arrived circa 1795 and erected a log cabin on land which he donated to the township (now known as South Park) for use as a public meeting house and grocery store He also acquired some additional land east of present day Fourth Street which he used for growing crops and raising stock (later known as West Park). John Smith's daughterMargaret moved into her father's house after her dad died in 1799 and continued to live there until her death seven years later from tuberculosis spread through touch or contact with individuals living near her home alone at night She left behind five girls - one being surviving adopted sister Anna Maria Kappenauer who eventually married George Dyson & family; four daughters were born to Margaret: Johanna Elisabeth Kappenauer Dyson; Rhoda Sophy Hickey; Esther May KappenauerDyson; two boys: John Jacob Dyson & Nicholas Augustus Dyson both born on November 5th 1800 according to various source including census records As mentioned earlier Margaret also fathered three other children with another man she married while living with her dad: Henry Vrooman whose parents were Dutch immigrants John Fenton & Catherine Van der Werf ; one son died young at an early age like his brother Nicholas Augustus did not grow old enought tarry long enough t o vie w/ French Immigrants about whom more later One important fact about early settlers is that most were men although there were some women among them such as Margaretta Smith whose husband helped build Wingate House on current day Third Street which still stands today Thanks mainly t heir husbands hard work many residents contributed financially especially Candlewood Brewery located just east off Main Street where Ladies Auxiliary served refreshments daily until Prohibition ended Ladies Auxiliary Museum still operates today This museum contains artifacts dating back to before prohibition era including tax records showing memberships several families active during prohibition days such as Vrooman’s grocers list dated Oct 12 1902 shows 2 Dutch Immigrants side by side w/ American Women
The town of Woodhaven was founded in 1867 by a group of farmers who moved from the village of Hubbardston. The town grew rapidly during the early years, and in 1878 it had a population of about 150 people. By 1900, Woodhaven had reached its peak as a rural community with a population of over 1,000. However, during World War I the town saw an influx of soldiers due to the military presence in the area. As a result, the population decreased and by 1920 there were only 50 residents remaining in Woodhaven. In 1930, however, the town again enjoyed success as they became one of the most heavily populated communities in Michigan. During World War II, local businesses produced materials for use in Nazi Germany. As a result, many locals turned against their government and some even left Woodhaven for good. Despite this situation, however, many people continued to live and work in Woodhaven throughout the war. After the war ended, business slowed down but new development began to take place in downtownWood Haven which has since continues to grow at an exponential rate. Today's incarnation of downtownWood Haven is home to numerous businesses including restaurants, nightlife venues and more; all while preserving much of its historical significance from when it first started out.
