Wixom, Michigan is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Oakland County. The population was 25,711 at the 2010 census, making it the 11th-largest city in Michigan and the 29th-largest city in the United States. Wixom is located on the western edge of Midland County and is bordered to the east by Muskegon County and to the south by Lansing Township. The first settlement in what is now Wixom was made near present day downtown when pioneer farmers who had fled from a band of Chippewa Indians discovered fertile land hereabouts in 1836. A post office called "Wixom" was established in 1839, and remained operational until it was discontinued in 1902. In 1847, fur trader Nicholasmiscus Linton built a log cabin on an hill overlooking today's downtown area after purchasing 640 acres (26 km2) of land northeast of present-day downtown for $800 (). From this cabin, Linton started trading with Native Americans along with fur trader John Jacob Astor. In 1861, Wixom became part of Ottawa County when that county was created from parts of Mecosta and Shiawassee Counties following the American Civil War; it would remain within Ottawa County until 1959 when it joined Macomb Township as part of larger Detroit metropolitan area. On July 1, 1898 Wixom became a city through an act entitled "An Act To Create City Of Wixom In The Municipality Of Oakland". Growth slowed during World War II as many factories closed or were relocated to other locations due to wartime shortages; however, by 1951 there were over 100 businesses operating here including 63 banks and more than 350 retailers/restaurants totaling over $1 billion worth retail sales statewide that year alone! Afterward growth resumed as new industries such as information technology arrived while also attracting government jobs like police officer training which helped spur development around town center includingSeveral parks have been developed since then – most notably One Campus Martius Park which opened in 2001 adjacent to nearby Wayne State University - resulting in more housing developments adjoining town center with even more restaurants situated close by! The Coast Guard gift history goes back to the early 1800s. In 1819, a group of seamen in Rhode Island voted to establish a coast guard. The first Coast Guard was formed on December 12th, 1829. It consisted of 8 men and lasted only 2 months. The Coast Guard was re-organized in 1832 and became the United States Coast Guardsmen Act of 1862. In 1916, the name changed from United States Coast Guardsmen to the present day Coast Guard. On July 1st, 1944, President Franklin D. Roosevelt authorized creation of the U.S. Maritime Administration (MSA). The MSA was designed to provide "a single point of contact for all Federal interests affecting maritime safety." On October 1st, 1947, it was re-named as the National Security Agency (NSA). As part of its mission statement, NSA is charged with: "(1) protecting America's security by providing intelligence services that are unique in their kind; (2) supporting international efforts in counterterrorism and counterintelligence; and (3) cooperating with other Federal agencies when needed to achieve common goals." In 1951, Congress passed an act entitled "An Act To Grant Aid To Mariners In Need" which provided financial assistance to mariners who were unable or unwilling to pay duties owed by boaters on navigable inland waters within 200 miles of shoreline subject to exclusive commercial fishing rights pursuant to section 201(a)(3)of Title 14 USC Chaptered Laws Of The United States OF AMERICA 1976 Edition as Amended By Preamble And Subsequent Provisions thereof . This exemption applies both within and outside territorial waters meaning that any vessel entering or leaving coastal areas without paying commercial dues will be considered an violator subjecting them not just to penalties but also imprisonment up to 5 years at hard labor followed by a fine equal to twice the value of such illicit traffic . Prior law allowed for fines up t 50% but this provision was relaxed after protests from fishermen who claimed that this resulted in a bonanza for smugglers rather than deterrent action against crime . Additionally vessels found violating commercial fishing regulations may also be subject ta confiscation with equipment and/or profits seized along with crew members taken into custody pending trial or incarceration should punishment not be appropriate

Wixom is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Oakland County. The population was 31,711 at the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city in Oakland County, after Saginaw, with a total area of 64 square miles (154 km2). Wixom is also home to many high-tech companies such as Intel Xeon Processor Solutions and L3 Technologies. The first known permanent settler in what would become Wixom was Nicholas Brown who founded a cabin on December 12, 1824 on land he had purchase from John White Jr. for $1 per acre (0.50 m²). The town site was surveyed by George Stephenson on July 6, 1830 and named after Nicholas Brown's friend Samuel Haldimand, 1st Earl of Halifax. In 1834 David Ransom founded the Detroit Iron Works at nearby Eckelsburg and leased land to start a town called Ransomville for workers; this became Wixom about 1840 when it merged with Eckelsburg into one village people called "Wixome". In 1844 James Atherton started freight service from his millrace upriver to Wixom via a canal that led through Ishpeming and other villages before joining up with another canal near downtown Detroit; this became known as the Grand Trunk Canal which linked Canada with America through Detroit and New York City during the 19th century. Atherton died in 1851 but his son James continued running the business until 1906 when it merged with marketing company JCPenney to form Sears Roebuck & Co.; Sears then moved its headquarters from Hoffman Estates, Illinois to Racine, Wisconsin where it remains today as Sears Holdings Corporation (). A post office was established at Wixom on January 8, 1850, under name of Ephraimite (). The present spelling began use on November 2nd 1880 when Winthrop Edison opened an electric telegraph office here; this became part of Western Electric Company () which merged with General Electric Company () in 1918 to form GEICO (); GEICO occupied most of downtown until 1984 when they moved out west across Woodward Avenue into their current building located along Dearborn Street between Macklinore Drive and Capitol Heights Drive. The first school in town was built at 209 Main Street by Mrs Cushing in 1868; it closed due to lack of students about 1920 but reopened as Pembroke Female Seminary School in 1925 which operated until 1957 when it closed again due mainly to low enrollment due primarily to Japanese Americans living near by during World War II (). After years of being without any formal educational facility locals formed Wayne Community College District #2 which operatesprisingly still today (in 2017) In addition to Wayne Community College District #2 there are also several private schools located throughout town including: Stonington Christian Academy (), Huron Heights Church Academy (), South Park Middle School (), Highland Hills Elementary School (), Lionsgate Catholic High School ()and Grosse Pointe Collegiate Institute (). There are also numerous small businesses locate throughout town including Caterpillar Millinery Ltd., Ford Motor Co., Silver Lake Paper concerns Inc., Midas Auto Parts Inc., Home Depot(), Applebees(), KFC(), Denny's Restaurant (), Danone,, etc.). Many more have since been added but these are just some examples....
