The Wixom Army was a large and influential army in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The army was formed in 1892, when the town of Wixom, Michigan amalgamated with the then-small city of Detroit. The new combined force numbered over 4,000 men and women. In 1912, the Wixom Army put on its first parade ever. By 1918, it had grown to over 12,000 soldiers. In 1916, the Wixom Army donated an artillery piece to be used by the US military during World War I. The cannon was taken fromWixom Arsenal and installed at Camp Dodge in Iowa. It served as a training ground for American artillerymen before being sent to Europe in 1917. After World War I ended, the gun was returned to Wixom where it remained until 1924 when it was transferred back to America and placed at Fort Bliss near Dallas, Texas. In 1930, the United States government gifted three cannons toWixomArmy as part of its Centennial Celebration program. These cannons were designated “M1A3” and “M1A4” (the M1A3 being nicknamed “The Big Red One”). They were originally designed as part of a larger project called Project 1919 which aimed to improve artillery fire control technology across all branches of service during World War II. The cannons were eventually placed into storage after their original purpose faded from public attention; however they remain important pieces of history today thanks to their unique designation!

Wixom is a town in Shiawassee County, Michigan, United States. The population was 5,934 at the 2010 census. The name comes from the Sioux word "wix" meaning "to make a web." The town of Wixom was founded in 1871 by Isadore Wyer and moved to its present location in 1881. It is part of the Lansing Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 1900, Wixom had a population of 1,752 and grew to 2,811 in 1920. In 1940, it had 4,830 residents and grew to 6,569 in 1960. Wixom became an incorporated municipality on November 3 of that year. The Village of Wixom was once located within the limits of today's Town of Wixom but has since dissolved and all land within its boundaries has been annexed by either the Town or Township as needed. Today's economy is based primarily on agriculture with some small manufacturing operations scattered throughout the community periphery. The local Junior League offers classes for children in creative writing and photography as well as gardening and home improvement skills; many people are also involved with their civic organizations such as artists exhibitions/shows/fundraisers or parade committee memberships which provide opportunities for social interaction outside the classroom setting

Wixom, Michigan is a town in Lapeer County, Michigan, United States. The population was 2,797 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Warren–Dearborn Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was platted in 1836 and named for Augustus Wixom, an American politician from New York City. In 1847, Wixom became one of the first towns in what would become Lansing Township when that township was organized. On July 1, 1848, the village of Wixom incorporated as a town under the name "Wixom". The first mayor was George Davenport. In 1865 it became one of six townships to be created in Lansing Township; it still contains part of that township's boundaries today. On October 15, 1908 residents of Wixom petitioned to change their name to "Zion" due to concerns about being confused with nearby Zionville which had been renamed Zionsville by its founder Elijah Price after receiving clearance from the United States government for that name change from Philadelphia. On November 10th 1908 a vote was held and 67% feeling were in favor while 33% opposed changing their name to Zion due to fears they may lose some jobs or other economic benefits associated with being called Zion because so much attention had been given to that community since then and no mention had been made about how this would affect them as citizens of Wixom (the original namesake). So on November 17th 1908 an ordinance changed the name back to "Wixom". The population increased rapidly during World War II as many local businesses took on wartime production tasks such as producing munitions and steel products. By 1957 there were more than 3200 residents in Zionsville annexed into Wixom along with 9 elementary schools (now closed), 6 high schools (now closed), 2 churches (both now defunct), 5 cemeteries (all now inactive) and 4 businesses (now defunct). In recent years there have been few changes visible within the small community other than occasional updates to business names or phone numbers on street signs
