Warren is a small town in the Kalamazoo Valley of Michigan, United States. The population was 6,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Wyoming Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first coffee house in Warren was established in 1867 by George H. Smith and his brother-in-law John Aiken Adkins. The first pot of coffee brewed in Warren was Signal Hill Coffee House on Washington Street. There were also two blacksmith shops in town at that time; one on Washtenaw and Market streets and another on Elmira Avenue between High School and Exchange Streets. By 1871, there were seven different businesses serving coffee in Warren - four restaurants (Garrison's, Brown's Hotel, Harbinger Cafe), three grocery stores (Providence House Grocery Company, Northern Pacific Railroad Warehouse), a printing shop (Phoenix Typographical Press) and a coal mine (Warren Coal & Coke Company). In 1872, James Kapp founded the Kapp Coffee Merchants Association to promote quality coffee from around the world through sales promotion and marketing techniques including direct mail campaigns and cooperative purchasing schemes with other merchants throughout Michigan. In 1916, Kapp opened his second store - Kapp's General Store - which became an important landmark for local businessman David Naylor until it burned down in 1984. In 1929, Grosse Pointe Shores restaurateur Harry Luce took over ownership of the Kapp store after its closure due to financial difficulties caused by the Great Depression. At its peak during World War II, Grosse Pointe Shores had eight Grosse Pointe Shores Coffee Houses serving more than 2 million cups of morning coffee per day to military personnel stationed overseas as well as their families living ashore along M1A2 tanks main ammo supply route from Detroit to Suffolk County! In 1951 when Warren lost its post office status it merged with Benton Harbor into what is now Detroit metropolitan area but this story does not end there as many people know about Franklin Furniture which moved from Warren to Dearborn Heights in 1967 before finally moving back home again after 32 years! Warren has experienced several waves of growth over the years with some residents leaving for better opportunities or arriving for new lifestyles while others have remained rooted here despite various challenges such as annexation by Flint or competition from nearby cities like Grand Rapids or Holland Township – both within Lansing city limits at that time – making Rust Belt communities powerful forces shaping how they interact with each other today
