The Warren Rifle and Pistol Club was founded on December 9, 1873, by a group of men who pooled their resources to purchase a rifle from the local gunsmith. The first meeting was held in the home of Captain John Laughlin. From that day forward, the club met at various locations in the town. In 1878, they purchased a shotgun from Wm. J. Sheehan and began using it for target shooting out of their house on Main Street. In 1881, they moved to 4th Street and purchased a revolver from G E Dixon. That same year, they became members of the Michigan State Rifle Association (MSRA). They were also active in many other organizations including Masonic Lodge #1-East Lansing and Rotary Club of Warren Township #2-Warren Heights. By 1898, they had acquired a shotgun and rifle again; this time they added pistols to their collection. In 1902, Captain Laughlin passed away suddenly and left behind an important legacy within the club: he had opened up membershiphips for women which allowed more women to participate in target shooting events as well as join other organizations like the MSRA during its early years. In 1925, Captain Laughlin's widow donated her entire estate to the Warren Rifle & Pistol Club with plans to create a muzzleloader museum in memory of her husband along with fund-raisers for various firearms related purposes such as NRA meetings/ shoots etcetera

Warren is a town in the U.S. state of Michigan, located along the Ottawa River on the border of Wayne and Shiawassee Counties. The population was 1,721 at the 2010 census. It is part of Grand Rapids–Michigan Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name Warren may come from a Potawatomi word meaning "place whereuti (water) collects." The first settler in what is now Warren was John White, who platted what is now Warren in 1824 as part of a land grant to his nephew William Blackford. blackford named his plat after General Anthony Wayne who had successfully opposed British forces during the American Revolution. In 1828, white settlers Isaac Morse and Elijah Goodrich erected two log cabins near present-day Bellefontaine Road which became known as the White House Inn or Indian Hotel because it served as headquarters for fur trader George Armstrong Custer during his military campaigns against Sioux and Cheyenne Indians in North Dakota and South Dakota in 1876-77; he also stayed there briefly before moving on to Fort Laramie). In 1830, silver discoveries were made at Saginaw Bay which led to increased demand for goods transported overland from Michigan through Ohio by traders such as James Kapp and Andrew Jackson Forbes. This allowed new settlements such as Detroit to be founded near Saginaw Bay while continuing westward into what is now Michigan Territory. In 1834, when United States troops burned down the village of Mackinac Island due to Native Americans’ obstructionism towards their new government, local residents formed an informal militia called “Zion” which fought back against US forces until leadership moved south to take up arms with Tecumseh's Army under General Joseph Ligonier against Ulysses S Grant's Union army at Battle of Inkster Heights on July 7th1865; this event marked the beginning of a period known as "the War Between The States" where Native American resistance turned into outright rebellion against white rule leading eventually to full independence for most Native American nations within weeks following Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation on January 1st1867). The first post office in Warren was established in 1825; it closed six years later because no mail could be delivered due to Indian hostilities nearby precipitated by smallpox epidemics that ravaged much of central Canada during that time frame (a particularly harsh pandemic caused extensive death among civilians throughout much of Great Lakes region)). A post office reopened atpresent-day Bellefontaine Road in 1830 but closed again nine years later due mainly to lack of interest from residents/mail carriers; however,Bellefontaine Road has been continuously occupied by postal employees since 1870 without interruption.) Warren was a small town of about 10,000 people in Michigan at the turn of the 20th century. It was one of the few communities to remain largely unchanged from before the American Civil War. The community's only product was its namesake, Warren cheese, which continued to be produced until 1931. However, other aspects of life in Warren were also unchanged during this time period including its role as an agricultural center and its location on the East Coast within easy reach of many factories and markets. The town's economy changed dramatically after World War I when the region became industrialized. Steel production increased in Warren thanks to new technology and engineering advances. In addition, railroads brought more goods and people into the area making it easier for businesses to grow and prosper. In recent decades,Warren has seen some growth but remains a struggling small town with limited resources - something that has made it difficult for residents to keep up with changes in their surroundings.
