On October 27, 1861, the United States of America was born. The birth of a new nation was an event that shook the world. Even as President Abraham Lincoln signed the Declaration of Independence and issued his first inaugural address, a group of men and women were hard at work assembling what would come to be known as the United States Military Academy (USMA). For over 130 years, USMA has been providing military students with quality education and training that has helped our country reach its current level of global power and influence. Today, we are proud to offer students from all corners of the globe access to USMA’s curriculum and resources. In addition to offering undergraduate degrees in many different fields such as law enforcement, business administration, international relations, health care/rehabilitation services, engineering and architecture; USMA offers graduate degrees in combat arms technology/policy/military planning/international relations/defense studies/national security policy. Additionally, each semester provides opportunities for hands-on learning in a variety of military applications such as infantry platoon exercises or air defense missile firings. In honor of our enduring legacy within society and on behalf of our cadets who have made it their life’s mission to serve our country – both now and into the future – we are excited to celebrate alumni Week beginning on Saturday November 3rd through Sunday November 4th. This year’s festivities include several events designed to commemorate Cadet’s accomplishments both old-fashioned (such as black Tie Gala) and more modern (such as enlisting in the U.S Marines). In addition to receptions at various universities around Michigan during these two days; Cadets will also participate in numerous parades across town culminating with a reenactment event at Fort Wayne Park on Saturday evening!

Troy, Michigan is a small city located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The population was 4,853 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Isabella County. The area now known as Troy was first settled by Native Americans in the late 18th century. The first permanent European settlers were French traders and fur trappers who traveled through what is now Isabella County on their way to market in Green Bay andChicago. The early residents were farmers, but they soon realized that they needed more land to grow crops and build homes. They began purchasing land from local tribes and claiming it as their own. In 1836, they founded what would become Troy by proclamation from President Andrew Johnson. In 1863, while fighting in the American Civil War, General George Custer's regiment was headquartered in nearby Superior for support operations against Confederate forces under General Robert Easley. When news reached Troy of his success at Little Big Horn, people came out to celebrate with him and his troops at the Fairgrounds on Main Street where he had pitched his tent that day years earlier. As part of this celebration, citizens erected a large stone statue of General Custer near today's intersection of State Street (now US-2) and Woodward Avenue (now US-12). The townspeople donated land for a new courthouse and jail in 1868 which served until 1903 when the old building burned down. A new courthouse was built between 1908 and 1912 using money provided by local businesspeople during World War I as part of an effort to modernize Wayne County government facilities statewide In 1957, township trustees proposed annexing neighboring Cass Township because Cass' population growth rates had outstripped those of Troy's over time; however, this proposal did not receive final approval from supervisors until 1959 afterCass officials initiated an unsuccessful lawsuit seeking reversal based on zoning changes made by Troy officials without consulting Cass residents or getting prior consent from Cass trustees

A number of Significant Events have occurred during its history including: The first interracial marriage in Michigan was performed at Hope Baptist Church on May 3rd, 1941; The Battle of Midway took place on July 20th, 1942; The first African American employee at Chrysler Corporation was hired on October 1st 1966; The opening of Kmart store on November 7th 1970; The restoration of Belle Isle Park which included new public access paths and gardens following clearing away many years worth of trees (now known as Belle Isle Park Community Park); During World War II entire neighborhoods around downtown were destroyed by bombing raids so residents relocated into high rises near Interstate 94 for safety Troy's resurgence began after World War II as hundreds of veteran displaced persons from Hiroshima/ Nagasaki moved back into the city from outlying areas such as Wayne County. Many businesses reopened after being closed during wartime hiatus while others started up completely new businesses because no one else wanted to run them during peacetime times when most people would have left their businesses due to lack of business opportunities or simply because they couldn't bring themselves to continue operating them given what had been going on during wartime time period
