In 1824, Lansing was founded by John James Auden as a trading post on the Kawkawlin River. In 1827, Lansing became the capital of Western Michigan Territory. On July 1, 1867, Lansing became the capital of Macomb County when it was divided from Wayne County. Trenton was named after General John Trenton who served in the Mexican-American War and also fought in the American Civil War as a general under Ulysses S. Grant and Sherman. Trenton is home to one of two public libraries in Michigan, as well as four churches and a school district that serve students from pre-kindergarten through high school; all are part of United Methodist Church (UMC). The primary economic activity for Trenton is manufacturing which includes aluminum products and farm products such as eggs and cheese

Trenton, Michigan is a small town located in the heart of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The population was 1,527 at the 2010 census. Trenton is bordered by Saginaw on the north, Grand Rapids on the east, and Monroe to the south. The climate in this area is mild with cool summers and warm winters. Trenton was originally called "Davenport" after General David Davenport who fought in the Mexican-American War and later became a U.S. Senator from Michigan. The first settler in what is now Trenton was Nicholas Rogers who arrived in 1837 from New York City. He built a log cabin on what is now Park Avenue which he named "Rogers Station." In 1838, John Marshall came to Trenton from Buffalo, New York and founded Marshall's Mills which operated until 1865 when it burned down. Also during this time period, James Ahern established Ahern's grocery store on Main Street which continued operation until 1912 when it closed due to economic conditions. In 1847, John Fenton settled near present day intersection of Washington Street and Park Avenue and named his land "Fenton Township." In 1846, John Hennepin moved from Chicago Illinois to start an agricultural farm west of Detroit that he named "Hennepin County". When Hennepin died in 1850 leaving his land to his son Jonas Hennepin Jr., it passed automatically into Jonas' hands as per intestate succession law but no heirs were found so it reverted back to Jonas' father's estate as per intestacy law again without any heirs being found however this did not last long as Jonas' brother Gilbert took over the farm in 1854 and renamed it "Trenton County". also during this time period one Michael Kapp sold some land around present day Parkside Drive for $600 which would become part of present day Trenton village center where Kapp ran his grocery store until 1951 when he sold all his interest to Prentice Corporation for $2 million dollars making him one of America's wealthiest men at that time! In 1860s several other families moved into central township including: Tilton family (1860), Beeson family (1862), Glidden family (1864), Morse family (1865), Day family (1866). By 1870 there were twelve families living here with total population numbering 2,522! In 1870s many new businesses started up such as Jens Rasmussen’s Hardware Store on current day State Road 7 south of town; Wm Calkins’ Lumber Yard; James Fenton’s Seed Store; GV Bemis & Sons Machine Shop; Reuben Snyder’s Dry Goods Store; Chas Green & Bros Boot Shop; Mrs Ransom’s Bakery etc.; these businesses provided jobs for locals while also supplying goods needed by local farmers such as flour for their breadmaking purposes etc.. Also during this time period school began being organized with Mr Samuel Schuler starting up School District #1 which included most of central township including: Central High School now known as Eastern High School; Dodgeville Business Academy now known as Western Wayne Academy; Butler Business Institutenow known as Eastern Miamisburg Community College;; Isaac Asimov Elementary School now known as MiddletonElementarySchool;; Swiss Village Elementary School formerly Knowles Elementary School etc.; these schools helped provide education for young people throughout central township while also becoming homeschooling opportunities for those parents who could not afford public schooling By 1900 there were twenty two schools open in central Township with total enrollment reaching 568 students! During World War I several businesses closed down or changed ownership including: Wm Calkins’ Lumber Yard closed down due to lack of customers during World War I while another business - Jens Rasmussen’s Hardware Store - reopened shortly afterwards due to increased demand following World War I however they only lasted until 1924 because they went out of business again due to changing consumer trends! In 1922 Dwight Eisenhower was born here making Trenton one of few places in America where two high ranking officials were born! Later during World War II several others companies decided not To go through with selling their products because they had been impacted by wartime rationing however they continued operations under different names like Armour Manufacturing Company then United States Rubber company before finally going outof business again during 1953-1955!!!!!!!!!

The town grew rapidly and by 1868 it had a population of over 1,000 people. In 1870, Trenton became an incorporated city and continue to grow until its incorporation into the United States in 1901.
