The first coffee shop in Taylor, Michigan was opened in 1916 by John and Myrtle Heffer. The business was known as the Capitol Coffee House. In 1923, the Heffers moved to their current location on First Avenue North and began selling coffee from a roasting plant they had built themselves. In 1934, the business became known as the Maga Café. In 1951, the Maga Café bought its present location on First Avenue North and changed its name to Taylor Coffee Company. In 1984, Taylor Coffee Company merged with The Dearborn Coffee Company and became Dearborn/Taylor Coffee Co., Inc.
Taylor, Michigan is a town in Ottawa County, Michigan, United States. The population was 3,434 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lansing-Ypsilanti Metropolitan Statistical Area. According to the United States Census Bureau, Taylor had a total area of , all of it land. The first settlers in Taylor were two brothers: James and John Taylor (1801-1860). They located what is now known as the east side of Taylor Township on a tract of land they bought from the government in 1825. In 1828, James and John built what is now called Old Taylor House on their farmstead near present day Northside Drive and State Road 476. The house still stands today and has been designated a National Historic Landmark by the US Department of Interior. In 1830, another brother named Moses arrived and founded another township, Minto Township in Ottawa County. This new township contained parts of present day East Lansing and Huron Heights areas which became part of Taylor during Reconstruction following the American Civil War. After Ohio statehood was granted to Michigan in 1837, much of that country's interior remained under federal jurisdiction including most of Oakland County including what is nowTaylor Municipality. In 1850, Congress passed an act granting full internal self-government to Indian nations within territorial boundaries making it possible for those tribes to sell lands within their boundaries as well as engage in trade with other portions of America without having their lands take away from them through eminent domain proceedings or grant by Congress if they desired again tribal status between 1855 and 1870 when this power reverted back to the Native American governments respectively due to lack thereof among white settlers living adjacent thereto until acquisition by whites subsequent to this time; however this did not happen as established Anglo settler interests opposedfull internal self-government for Indians citing mixedbloods residing amongst them who would soon outnumber pure European blooded residents so full tribal status would be lost should such proposal be made again except for ceremonial purposes only thereby perpetuating interracial conflict through continual contact between these groups over access to resources etc.; continuing friction ensuing since many white residents were actually heavily involved in both factions/interests competing for control over Indian Country). By 1870 there were only about 100 people living hereabouts while 2 churches operated; one Baptist and one Methodist Episcopal church which are still extant today thanks largely to donations from early generations descendants continuing into modern times especially given community growth & development trends related thereto) (James & John Taylors home at Northside Dr.)

It was founded in 1837 byJoshua Taylor and his family after they left Detroit for a new life in what is now northwestern Ontario. The town rapidly grew and became an important center of commerce and culture in the region. The town was destroyed by fire in 1895, but it quickly rebuilt and emerged as one of the most significant communities on the Upper Peninsula. In 1927, Taylor was renamed to honor John F. Kennedy, who had grown up nearby. The community continued to grow during the 20th century, becoming one of the largest on the peninsula. In recent years, however, Taylor has experienced some struggles with economic decline and crime. However, it remains an important cultural and commercial center for the region.
