It has been said that the beginning of coffee history can be traced back to 1824 when a man by the name of Nicholas-Jacques Caffarelli started roasting coffee in a small town in Italy. It wasn’t until well into the 20th century that roasted coffee became an international commodity and it was not until the early 1900s that Taylor, Michigan became known for its fresh roasted coffee. The first mill on this site was erected in 1892 and it was here whereristocrat J. P. Morgan purchased his first bag of ground beans. In 1916, Julius Nystrom opened his own roaster and founded Nystrom Coffee Company which continues to produce quality roast today. Taylor has long been known as a center for coffee production with many smallholders responsible for growing and harvesting their own beans. Today, over 100 different businesses participate in Taylor Coffee Roasters Ltd., making this one of the largestroasters in the world! The first coffee beans roasted in Taylor, Michigan were grown by the Swiss-owned and -operated Cartwright Coffee Company in 1892. The company was founded by John Cartwright, who arrived in the town from Illinois around 1875. In 1901, the company moved its operations to a new building on Main Street. In 1924, the Cartwright Coffee Company merged with another Swiss-owned and -operated coffee company, The Roasters of Detroit (TRD), which also served as salesman for other Swiss-owned companies such as Jura Coffee and Eidos Coffee. TRD operated Taylor's first roastery until it closed in 1984. In 1990, The Roasters of Detroit reopened their original roastery at 1020 Washington Avenue in Taylor after moving from their original location on Gratiot Avenue in Auburn Hills. At that time, they became the only U.S.-based roaster of whole bean coffee. In 2000, they sold their business to two brothers who continued to roast coffee there until 2006 when they closed down due to financial difficulties. Today, COFFEE HOUSE is still open as a retail store selling whole bean coffee both fresh and processed from local farmers throughout Michigan
Taylor, Michigan is a small town in the United States. The population was 1,594 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Marshalltown–Harrison Township School District. The Taylor-Lansing Airport is located in this town. Taylor was platted on July 24, 1824 by John Taylor and James Logan as a place to trade with other towns along the Ottawa River. The first post office was established in 1827, and it changed its name to Taylor on December 4, 1831. In 1835, an act providing for township organization passed both houses of Congress and became law; Taylor's incorporation became effective that same day. The town developed around two sawmills that operated from 1795 until 1889. One mill produced lumber for churches and schools; the other manufactured flour for local markets and export. In 1907, three years after becoming a state capital city under Michigan Constitution amendment No. 3 (now Article IV), Lansing demoted Taylor to seat 4th in the Michigan House of Representatives due to its smaller population size – when Lansing reassigned districts following the adoption of new boundaries in 1912 all but one of the now six congressional districts were based on population numbers instead of land area considerations – so much so that only four out of eleven members who served during those years were from Taylor; only one representative from any borough or village served within district borders (the exceptions being Flint and Westland). In 1915 Representative Augustus Ewing moved his Jackson County constituents into his district which then included all present-day Macomb County except for Ann Arbor Township which then lay within Washtenaw County’s jurisdiction In 1917 Representative Josephine Jolley moved her county constituents from Muskegon Heights into her district which also includes most present day Monroe County apart from Gratiot Townshipwhich lies within Oakland County’s jurisdiction . From 1935 through 1959 Representative Elmer Hildreth represented every township west of Wayne State University with exception for Seneca Village which falls within Wayne State University’s Flint Campus District . There have been no representatives representing any borough or village since 1959 . The last sawmill closed down in 1989; however some remnants remain today including a park adjacent to what used to be the mill building known as Sawmill Park while another park next door still bears witness to how mills once functioned: water ran downhill flowing over an inclined plane designed originally just for handling logs during loading/unloading operations now functions as a playground complete with swings and slides

Taylor, Michigan is a small town in the Kalamazoo County of Michigan. It was founded in 1836 by Peter K. Taylor and his wife, Sarah Jane. The town had grown by 1840 to include a post office and over 100 residents. In 1851, the township was organized into a village, which grew to include a school and other amenities. By 1860, the village had burned down and the town was abandoned. In 1902, Taylor became part of the new city of Kalamazoo. The population of Taylor declined until it peaked at around 2,500 in 1930 before decline again during World War II when many businesses closed because of the war effort. In 1960, it merged with neighboring townships to form what is now Kalamazoo Township. Today, Taylor has a population of about 350 people and is home to two schools: North Central Middle School and West Side Intermediate School. The economy is primarily based on agriculture but there are some small businesses that have sprung up in recent years such as an ice cream shop and a pet store.
Taylor is a city in the Kalamazoo County, Michigan, United States. The population was 12,083 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lansing–East Lansing–Kalamazoo Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Taylor was Nicholas Clarke who arrived on July 8, 1807. The first post office in Taylor was established on October 1, 1812 and named "Newburgh". On August 3, 1814, the town of Newburgh merged with Taylor to form one Towne. In 1827, George Washington Williamson purchased land east of present-day Taylor and built what became known as Williamson House which still stands today. In 1830 he sold his land to John Dickson for $5 instead of building a house as he had originally proposed because he was planning to move westward into Canada after the American Civil War ended. In 1839 John Dickson organized a group of settlers called the Michiganders and founded West Branch Township located north of present day Taylor. On December 24th of that year they voted to change their name from "Newburgh" to "Taylor" in honor of George Washington Williamson's donation which had been accepted by them four years previously when they changed their official name from "Michigan Township" to "Taylor Township". This event happened just two months after Michigan achieved statehood on July 26th following a vote by its citizens in an election held in Ann Arbor over two days without ballot boxes or voting turkeys! On November 25th 1840 James Waddell arrived at Negaunee Lake with his family and set up camp near modern day Midland where they would live until 1850 when they moved downriver and founded Grand Haven Landing on Lower Detroit River soon afterwards becoming one of its most successful communities. There were other settlements established within this area such as Highland Park (1841), Ottawa (1842), East Holland (1843) and White Oak Harbor (1845). After Michigan's admission into the Union on January 17th, 1861 it lost all but three counties including those now within Kalamazoo County: Allegany (nowAllen Park), Oakland County (now Livonia) and Wayne County (now Dearborn). However only about 10% or so of its rural residents left for various reasons such as geographic changes or job opportunities outside the county during this time period so overall growth remained high throughout much portions especially during early 20th century when auto manufacturing boomed due largely to increased production at Ford Motor Company factory located just south of downtown Detroit while other cites experienced out-migration due mainly to Prohibition-era labor shortages brought about by then new technologies like television & radio
