On October 8, 2017, President Donald Trump announced that he would be appointing Adam Tilton as Secretary of Defense of the United States Air Force. Tilton will succeed retired Lieutenant General James Mattis who resigned due to his disagreements with Trump’s travel ban policies

Taylor, Michigan is a small city located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The population was 5,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kalamazoo-Portage Metropolitan Statistical Area. The history of Taylor begins with its founding in 1824 as a mill town on Muskegon River. In 1865, it became the seat of Oakland County and was renamed to Taylor after General John B. Taylor who helped lead the Union army during the Civil War. By 1880, there were 1,500 residents and 100 businesses in Taylor. The first telephone line was installed in Taylor in 1888 and by 1897, there were 10 telephone companies operating in Taylor with a total population of 506. In 1907, Appleton Township was created from parts of Oakland and Muskegon Counties and eventually merged into Taylor as well. With itsgrowing populations and expanding industry, development proceeded rapidly withinTaylor over time. In 1950, four ZIP codes – 48215-48220 (the original portion of what is now Kalamazoo), 48823-48829 (Oakland County), 48901-48905 (Taylor) – were established withinTaylor proper boundaries which would later become known as "the ring." These ZIP codes remain today and are used by many different retailers withinTaylor itself as well as neighboring municipalities including Grand Rapids/Muskegon Heights/Harrisonburg., Iron Mountain/Lansing Hills/Saginaw Township Heights/, Battle Creek,,Moses Lake,,Bay City,, Shiawassee,,,, Gratiot County,,,, Ionia County,,,, Ottawa Co., etc.. All but Bay City have since been annexed into other municipalities or dropped from postal service rolls; however Gratiot remains an unincorporated community withinTaylor limits.- Today's economy mainly revolves around retail services such as health care clinics, grocery stores and convenience stores as well as auto manufacturing although some industrial activity still takes place near downtown Taylor along Muskegon River

Taylor is a town in Washburn County, Michigan, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Washburn Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1836 by Levi Coffin and others as an agricultural community on the Flint River. Taylor's first post office opened in 1837. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , of which is land and (1.8%) is water. The townsite was named for General George Washington Taylor who fought with distinction against Native Americans during the Battle of Fallen Timbers in 1813 near present-day Lansing, Michigan. As early as 1836, young settlers were looking for a site to build their homes because they could not find any suitable ground within driving distance of Grand Rapids or Washburn County seat Lansing. When Coffin learned that General Washington Taylor had died near Detroit in 1813, he decided to name his new community after him and began construction on what would become known as "the most successful military operation ever mounted by American forces." In 1840, when Taylor's family moved from their original farmstead about three miles northeast of town to a larger home within its boundaries (now known as Cemetery Drive), they also took over development of what would eventually be called "Taylor Square". By 1850 there were two schools and several buildings including a hotel/motel/grange complex located on what now forms north side of Third Street between Ionia Road and Elm Street just east of downtown square; one courthouse building; four stores; nine residences; two churches - First Methodist Church built in 1840 and then Second Baptist Church built in 1865; two warehouses used for storage until 1906 when they became residential dwellings (now known as Masonic Lodge Building); three mills which produced flour, paper products, boots and saddles until 1907 when they closed down due to lack of customers; one garage used until 1957 for storage purposes only A school board meeting held on November 17th determined that it would be necessary to re-open Memorial High School due to heavy enrollment growth during World War II caused by wartime demand for materials such as wood pulp needed for war planes being produced at nearby Willow Run Arsenal On December 5th 1959 doors were installed following many petitions from citizens requesting them since 1958 In 1961 Kanesville Township trustees voted unanimously to annex Taylor into that township
