The Michigan Air National Guard's Riverview Wing provides support to the state's military and law enforcement communities by deploying gift baskets of airforce items to local organizations. The wing also offers a variety of other services, including search and rescue, disaster relief, air traffic control and more. Air force gifts have been a part of the wing's history for many years. In 1946, when the wing was established as an auxiliary unit of the Michigan Air National Guard, it received its first aircraft - an F-6L Panther - from the United States Military Academy at West Point. More than 60 years later, in 2006, Riverview Wing handed over its last RAF Typhoon T2 trainer jet to the United States Air Force at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska. Today, Riverview Wing continues to provide valuable service to our military and law enforcement communities by deploying gift baskets of airforce items to local organizations across Michigan. Riverview is a small town in southeast Michigan. It is located on the I-96 corridor, about 25 miles south of Grand Rapids and 75 miles north of Lansing. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. The community was founded in 1881 by John A. Rivers and his wife Sarah Hagerty Rivers. The first store was built on what is now the corner of First Avenue and Third Street. In 1907, Riverview became a part of the newly created city of Grand Rapids. In 1943, Riverview was renamed after General George Custer to honor him for his role in World War II as an officer with the American Cavalry Regiment known as "Custer's Own". The town also home to two high schools: Riverview High School (established in 1957) and Western High School (established in 1966). In recent years, only Western has remained open; Riverview Intermediate School closed in 2002. Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School closed in 2001 due to financial problems; it reopened under new management later that year with assistance from the US government through stimulus money awarded to Michigan by President Barack Obama during his time as president

The USAF's gift history can be traced back to World War II when Section 542 of the Pentagon Policy Directive Number 1 mandated that all Allied countries should receive items related to aircraft manufacture and repair. This directive helped lead to the development of today's RAF and USMC aircraft fleets. Riverview is a small town in Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Muskegon Heights–Warren Township, which is also the local government's largest political subdivision. The first Euro-American settlement in what would become Riverview was established in 1836 by Levi Coffin and his family. They named their village after the river that ran through it – simply "River View". The community rapidly grew during the mid-19th century due to its location between two major railroads, and several large businesses were founded there including lumberyards and a flour mill. By 1870, Riverview had more than 300 residents. During World War II, Riverview played an important role in both sides of the war as a manufacturing center for munitions production. In 1945, following the war's end, many displaced persons from Europe settled in Riverview; this included many Jews who had been forced out of Nazi Germany during the Holocaust. gradual decline began soon afterwards as industry shifted to other nearby towns; however, by 2000 Riverview still boasted a few shops and restaurants unique to its own culture and history which remain popular today among its residents and visitors alike In recent years Riverview has seen increasing development around it with new housing developments popping up around town while also seeing heavy investment into infrastructure projects such as an expressway connecting Muskegon Heights to Warren Township (the so-called "Mackinac Expressway"). This growth has caused some concern over how much impact this will have on traffic congestion within town boundaries
The Riverview community of Michigan was once a bustling, manufacturing town that thrived in the early 20th century. The town was located on the north bank of the Kalamazoo River, and its residents were known for their production of agricultural goods such as flour, cheese, apples, and other fruits and vegetables. riverview also produced logs and lumber for local businesses. By the late 1920s, however, Riverview had lost much of its original manufacturing activity because of competition from larger cities in Michigan. It continued to be a small community until it merged with neighboring communities in the 1970s to form the current city of Lansing.
