As owosso began to grow and develop over the years, other businesses started up around town: The Gourmet Shop & Cafe opened in 1978; The Owl's Head Tavern & Brewery opened its doors in 1990; Three Dogs Brewing Companyopened its doors in 1995; Finally, Black Forest Coffee Co.'s opening coincided with growth within Owosso Township itself - today Black Forest Coffee continues to be one of the most popular small batch brewers within our community. Owosso is a town in the U.S. state of Michigan, population 3,521 at the 2010 census. The name is derived from Onisso Township, in Ottawa County, Ontario. It was founded in 1837 by General John Custer and his Seventh Cavalry Regiment as a stop on their march across the Great Lakes to join General George Armstrong Custer's army at Battle of Little Bighorn. Owosso was incorporated as a village in 1915. The community became an unincorporated community in 1937 and has since been governed by its own board of trustees under the jurisdiction of the village government. The history of Owosso can be traced back to 1837 when General John Custer and his Seventh Cavalry Regiment arrived from Kansas City to lead General George Armstrong Custer's army across the Great Lakes for what would become one of America's most landmark battles--the Battle of Little Bighorn against Sitting Bull’s Sioux Nation. At that time, there were only two settlements on each side of the lakes: Detroit and Chicago; however, because Indians were constantly raiding other villages along these waterways (and also stealing horses), General Custer decided that it would be more practical to encamp his troops nearpresent-day Owosso than continue marching all night long through hostile territory full of Trackerjacks, Wolves and Bears! He named this new outpost after Fort Dearborn – home then (to Native Americans) both to Chief Wabasha and President Andrew Jackson – due to its strategic location near Lake Superior on three sides and onto Ontonagon River on one! After just four months at Fort Dearborn (during which time he lost over 20 men),GeneralCuster led his forces into battle against Sitting Bull’s Sioux Nation at what would become known as pitched battle “The Big Hole” or “Little Bighorn”… resulting in Major Horatio Gates’ death & 10% loss for our side! The engagement left over 120 dead & 30 wounded including our general himself! As a result of this heroic deed (& victory over an entire Indian nation), Fort Dearborn became known throughout North America as 'The Capitol Of The West.' In 1915, Owosso was annexed into Muskegon Heights Village; but it reverted back to its original unincorporated status mere years later when Muskegon Heights Village disbanded following annexation by Grand Rapids again pursuant to local charter amendment #2-1978. Townspeople had successfully lobbied for villagehood once again following their experience with Grand Rapids' bureaucracy; but like many other municipalities around Michigan during this time period they found themselves struggling with budget cuts and declining support from city officials while simultaneously dealing with ever-changing traffic patterns caused by expanding Ford Motor Company operations eastward downriver valley towards Ypsilanti Township! In 2000, Owosose voters approved an ordinance granting themVillage Charter #3-2002 which repealed any previous Village Charter Amendments!!! This reestablishedTownshipgovernmentundertheJurisdictionofOwossoviteBoardoftrustees!!! Today, owoso stands proud as one of the most vibrant small towns within Michigan - known for its friendly people and rich cultural heritage dating back centuries! Withstood test after test during some very tough times - including 2 devastating floods that swept across town late last year - Oroso continues resiliently thriving despite being surrounded by some truly frightening things... like Mackinac Island !!!!!!!!!

Owosso is a small town in the northwest corner of Michigan, about 25 miles northeast of Lansing. It was founded in 1837 by Judge John Davenport and his wife, Anna. The first school was built on the town square in 1840. After the Civil War, Owosso became a manufacturing center for lumber products, with companies such as Jardine Mills and American Can Company based there. In the early 21st century, Owosso's economy has shifted to service-sector businesses such as health care and education. The population of Owosso declined from its peak in 2000 to just over 900 people in 2009, but has since recovered somewhat (1,005 people as of 2016). The history of Owosso can be traced back to when Judge John Davenport located the community on land grant he had acquired from the Huron Nation. The first settler were three men who came overland from Canada around 1837: George Armstrong (a farmer and builder), Moses Weems (a carpenter) and Solomon Youngblood (an interpreter). All three men were active in politics and business affairs at their respective times. George Armstrong served as Mayor of Owosso from 1881 to 1886; he also served on the city council from 1887 to 1889. He was one of several pioneers who donated land for what is now downtown Owossonsee . Moses Weems also played an important role in developing downtown Owossonsee . He helped finance building campaigns for local officials and donated land for schools, churches and other civic projects throughout the town. Solomon Youngblood arrived after spending time among the Onondaga tribe near Syracuse where he learned how to farm before coming westward along Route 11/12 into what is now Michigan Territory . One reason whyowossoneeza separate form more populated areas was because they did not have easy access to water resources which made growing crops difficult; however, this could change with new technology which led to development during later years like fracking that allows wells to be drilled deep below ground
