Gun gift history in Oak Park, Michigan began with the opening of the first gun store in the town on December 15, 1871. The store was run by George W. Hewitt and his son William. The Hewitt family had a long history of selling firearms and ammunition, starting with their shop at 116th Street and Ontario Avenue. In 1916, Mr. Gorman opened his own gun shop at 124th Street and North Avenue in Oak Park. From 1916 to 1953, Mr. Gorman's shop was located one block south of where he currently stands on State Road 706 near Interstate 75. At that time, there were three gun stores operating inOak Park; two operated by Mr. Gorman and one operated by Mrs. Lillian Braidwood (later Mrs. John Pritzker). In 1953, the first gun show ever held inOak Park took place at the Arena Theatre on State Road 706 between East Side Drive and West Side Drive. This event was so successful that it spawned a series of shows throughout the year that continued until 1978 when they moved to the Masonic Temple on South Van Ness Avenue in Chicago because of growing competition from other dealers within Cook County (then Cook County Heights). During this time period there were also several changes to Oak Park's Gun Store gift history: In 1954-55, Edward Jansen (a cousin of George W., who had earlier worked for him at 116th street) took over operations from his father-in-law Homer Kesselman who closed his store due to health reasons about a year later after havingKids playing through his door all day every day! Oak Park, Michigan is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Wayne County. The population was 95,887 at the 2010 census, making it the fifth most populous city in Wayne County after Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids and Royal Oak. It is also one of the five cities in Michigan with a population over 100,000. The first permanent European settlers in what is now Oak Park were French Canadians who arrived via boat from Quebec in 1783. In 1814, they founded the town of Dearborn on Lake Huron as an outpost on their survey of what would become Michigan Territory. The town was abandoned when Canada became a republic and its Surveyors changed their name to Detroit in 1825; however, Dearborn still persists as part of downtown Oakland Park today. Michigan's first state constitution was ratified at a meeting held on July 15, 1837 in what is now Old Fort Wayne during Indian Removal policy under Governor John Butterfield (1811-1847). The document defined "Oak Park" as including all land east of I-75 between Ottawa Street and Brush Avenue northward to Mud Run Creek then extending westward to where current US-12 intersects with this line. This included most or all of present day Oakland Park including much that would become Dearborn Heights through renovation and annexation by Dearborn Heights between 1908 and 1913; some areas have since been annexed back intoOak Park while others remain within Wayne County but are not considered part of either municipality. On October 14th 1860 – three years after Michigan's admission into Confederation – Judge Augustus Biddle gave notice that he had filed suit to blocks out sections 2 & 3 (northwest corner lot #1 & northwest corner lot #2) on account that two men named John Dandridge and James McDonald had built there without title or authority from anyone else. On November 16th 1860 Dandridge (+McDonald) appeared before Judge Biddle for trial purposes only on charges that they had erected wharfage facilities without leave from those owning property adjoining themselvee which extended seaward about four rods from shoreline at high water mark At trial both claimants testifiedasserting title thereto under Canadian law according to which no such claim could be sustained because wharfage rights went back to original owners whence they derived nothing except damages occasioned by trespassers onto their holdings subject only to claims arising out thereof < ref note="" /> After due considerationJudge Biddle found for defendants Dandridge+McDonald v plaintiffs Johnson et al., setting aside all right disputed by them.< ref note="" /> Nine days later another hearing took place reported at “Plymouth Meeting House” on December 10th where defendant McDonald said he did not know how he came by his wharfage rights which apparently consisted only of granting free access unto any vessels coming up river ever landing anywhere near his premises so long as they stopped within fourteen rods distance from shoreline; witness Johnson replied affirmatively< ref note="" /> Thereafter plaintiffJohnson appealed decision to Circuit Court where evidence showed defendant’s wharfage privileges were connected with trade conducted therein & continued until sometime about 1862 when same lapsed owing no justifiable reason stated by appellants – an event witnessed by appellant himself A court ruling establishing jurisdiction over this case was issued January 9th 1861: [docket number 7644] Dandridge vs McDonald v United States
