Fresh roasted coffee beans are a defining characteristic of the Novi, Michigan community. In fact, many people in town claim to be the first to taste fresh roasted coffee. The beans were first roasted on the family farm by Mr. and Mrs. John Kapp in 1922. They continue to roast coffee today and serve it at their cafe, The Parish, as well as at other locations throughout the town. The history of fresh roasted coffee begins with farmers in the area growing coffee for themselves. In 1916, two brothers from Flint opened a small café called Theold Bakery and Roasting Co., which served fresh-roasted coffee from their own farm until 1978. That same year, four men from Novi started a small roasting business called Dutch Bros. Coffee Company based in downtown Novi that continues to operate today. It is interesting to note that all of these businesses shared one common goal: To provide high-quality espresso and French press coffees for local customers in Novi and surrounding communities. This focus on quality has helped contribute to the continued popularity of fresh roasted coffee here in Michigan!

It is also one of two cities in Washtenaw County, Michigan (the other being Grand Rapids) with a population over 100,000. Novi's full name is Norrisville Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan. The City of Novi was incorporated on February 15, 1836 by act of the Legislature as a result of an election held on November 7 that year to select a new seat for Michiganders who had lost their places in the State Senate following the resignation of James Keltner. The township was named for Coles Silliman Norris (1796–1860), an early settler who had purchased land east of present-day Novi from George Herron and donated it to be drained by means of canals to improve navigation on Lake Huron. The first town meeting was held on December 11, 1836 at which time it voted to name itself "Norrisville" after Norris. At its peak during World War II it had a population of 30,000 people; however this number decreased rapidly due to war service and emigration alike coupled with social changes accompanying industrialization throughout much of America during that time period such as increased labor costs relative to prices paid for natural resources like timberland or farmland necessary for rural subsistence economies

Novi is a small town in the Kalamazoo-Lansing metropolitan area, Michigan. It was founded on July 24, 1835 by Nicholas Novak and his brother János. The town had a population of about 400 people when it was first settled. The first post office in Novi was established in 1840. In 1861, the United States acquired what is now Michigan from Great Britain as part of the Treaty of Paris following the American Civil War. As part of that treaty, Native Americans were given land east of the Mackinac River and certain tribes received land west of it. On November 1, 1873, Novi came into being as a result of an act by the Michigan Legislature which made all towns within its borders subject to its laws. On November 1, 1907 it became a city with a population of 684 people. On January 1, 1920 it merged with neighboring Liberty Township to form one large municipality with a total population of 2,827 people (including both cities). With this merger came significant changes for Novi: among them were the addition of two new wards (Emmett and John Day) and creation of city government services including parks and public transportation. On December 3rd, 2006 City Clerk Judie Neuman announced that due to budget cuts effective immediately all city services would be stopped on December 5th effective at 10am sharp no exceptions! This included water main repairs from Main Street all the way down to 14th Street between Euclid Avenue and State Road 471! All services will resume after lunch on December 6th once again according to original plans which involved bringing back some essential streets closed for maintenance purposes only weeks earlier than originally planned...
