The town continued to exist until it merged with other nearby municipalities on January 1st 1959 under then Mayor Anton Ottergrens guidance into what is now called Novi Township.* The unification process did not go without controversy however; there were numerous complaints about how much power each township had relative to their larger neighbors *. Ultimately this merger helped reduce any remaining competition for tax dollars between the villages and cities* which would have otherwise caused themto compete for jobs and development * ultimately leading to increased services available at all levels*

Novi, Michigan is a small city in the US state of Michigan. The population was 7,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Muskegon Heights Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town of Novi was founded in 1837 by John Stephenson and others as a fur trading post on the east side of the lower Peninsula. It grew rapidly during the 1840s and 1850s as settlers arrived from New England, Ontario, and other parts of Canada. In 1854, Stephenson donated land to Novi for an public school district; this led to its current name. In 1873, George Stephenson donated land to become a township in what is now Novi Township; this led to its current name as well. The first schools were built in 1886–1887 when Octave Chanute donated land for a school system that would serve all residents of his newcommunity of White Lake Township west of Decatur Street between Main and Washington Streets. In 1912, local farmers formed a cooperative to grow maize on their property near Spirit Lake; this led to the village being called "Mnichigan" by some early residents (though they eventually changed it back). The village had its first store in 1916 and community hall in 1922. In 1942, after World War II ended, many troops left Novi for camps located across Michigan due to rationing; this led to much growth within the community after that time period. Since 2000, there has been much redevelopment within Novi with plans for retail development along Cass Avenue as well as residential projects along Maple Road and Willow Rd.. These redevelopment efforts are expected to create thousands of jobs over the next several years while also increasing traffic congestion around town center which has caused some streetscape issues over time...
