Norton Shores, Michigan is a small town in Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. The population was 1,502 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Md.-Lansing Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first coffee shop opened in Norton Shores in 1903 and was run by Mrs. Leland Macy and her husband Edward Macy. In 1916, the first grocery store opened in Norton Shores and was operated by Mr. Henry Giannini and his wife Nellie Bertozzi. In 1917, the first post office opened in Norton Shores and was operated by Mrs. Lois Hildebrandt (later Mrs. George Sadowy). In 1951, Lester Pritzker founded Pritzker Coffee Company Ltd., which became one of America's largest coffee companies with its own roast shops throughout North America. Pritzker Coffee continued to operate its own stores until it merged with Jamba Juice Companies Inc.(Jamba) in 2001 to form Jamba Brands Incorporated (JBHI). In 2003, Jamba Juice announced that it would close 175 stores worldwide due to weak sales growth and falling profits; however, Jamba later reopened all but 13 stores globally as part of a strategic turnaround plan known as "Operation Rebirth". At the time of their closure these locations were located primarily within college campuses around the world where they served as an anchor tenant providing food court seating for students and staffs adjacent to Starbucks cafes on campus or within walking distance of other retailers such as Dunkin' Donuts and Subway sandwich shops across campus retail corridors... As part of this redevelopment plan Jambas re-opened some locations under new management including one store located inside a Sears Roebuck & Co department store on Wacker Drive in Chicago Heights,...[these] revived stores typically serve pre-packaged items such as soft drinks calories etc., rather than freshly roasted coffee beans."

Norton Shores is located on the east side of Lake Erie and west of downtown Detroit. The CDP covers an area of . The community was named for Commodore John H. Norton and his family who settled there in 1837. The original village name was "Newburgh". In 1892, it took its current name after President Grover Cleveland's wife first visited the town while he was on his way to a rally in nearby Rochester Hills. At that time, she called it "Norton Heights" because she thought it would make a good home for her children if they moved to America from Great Britain. In 1960, extensive development began near the shoreline with the opening of Norton Shores Harbor which included three small villages: Newburgh Village (north), Northville Village (south), and Southport Village (west). These developments were followed by other communities built along or near Lakeshore Drive such as Belle Isle Park/Hillsborough Township and Cedar Pointe Woods/St Clair Township; all within just over a decade or so of one another across much of what is now southeastern Michigan. Today's residents are scattered throughout many other townships and villages in southeast Michigan but feel close to their core hometowns where they live off-road in remote areas or work on farms or fishing boats out on Lake Erie (). This intense development has caused some problems however as well - including serious loss of trees due to subdivision fire suppression systems;ahighways becoming clogged with traffic;and few public services being available close by making it difficult for locals to get around without taking public transportation (). 1

Afterward, efforts were made to revitalize Norton Shores through tourism and education initiatives; however, these efforts have not resulted in sustained success over time.
