The United States Air Force Deployed Gift History program is a unique and special way for USAF enlisted members and their families to send a positive thought and gift to someone in the military. The program began in 1978, when General Dynamics Electric Boat Corporation donated a UH-1 Huey helicopter to the United States Air Force as a unit gift. With the passage of time, other donations have been made including an F-4 Phantom II fighter jet, KC-135 Stratotanker tanker, HH-60P Sea King Helicopter, and MQM-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicle. Since its inception, the USAF Deployed Gift History program has sent more than 1 million gifts totaling $153 million to our nation’s military members and their families! The generous gestures by our community have helped support countless lives through Make A Kind World contributions. In 2016 alone, AFB New Baltimore received more than $10,000 in donations from local residents!

New Baltimore, Michigan is a town in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,471 at the 2010 census, up from 2,956 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Wixom metropolitan area and is located approximately north-northwest of Lansing. The first permanent settler in New Baltimore was Nicholas Brown in 1824. The town was organized on November 14, 1827 by vote of the residents of denominations present at that time: Unitarian, Methodist Episcopal Church (Anglican), Presbyterian Church (Episcopal), and Congregationalist church (Mennonite). At its incorporation as a village on December 16, 1827 it had a population of just over 100 people. A post office called New Baltimore was established in 1828., and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1902. New Baltimore has been incorporated as a city three times: 1959-1962-2004-. The most recent incarnation as a city began on July 1st 2004 when it merged with Grosse Pointe Farms to form the new Grand Rapids–Wixom metropolitan area

In 1954, the USAF founded Operation Holiday Delivery in order to sendchristmas gifts direct to American military guests and leaders throughout Southeast Asia. Since then,Christmas gift history has included items such as laser pointers and TVs, as well as cigars, wine and cigarettes. The USAF has even sent military personnelCHRISTMAS packages!

New Baltimore was founded on July 1, 1836, by James A. Cowan and his brothers in what is now the city of Detroit. The town was named for John Baltimore, a British general who had helped move the United States westward after the American Revolution. The first settlers were farmers who farmed land that today forms much of downtown New Baltimore. By 1840, the city's population had grown to 3,000 people and it began to grow rapidly due to its location at the mouth of the river Rouge. In 1855, New Baltimore became a county seat and became one of the most important cities in Michigan. During World War II, New Baltimore played an important role as a base for military operations in central Michigan and southern Ontario. The city also played a major role in helping author victory songs for Allied forces during the war such as "I Will Not Be Moved" and "Here Comes Your Boy." In recent years, NewBaltimore has seen some redevelopment including new shopping centers and office buildings along with revitalization of its downtown core which has seen increased activity throughout the city center. Despite these positive changes, there are still many reminders of how different times were back when NewBaltimore was founded - such as photos from early pioneer days taken near current-day Market Street.

The town quickly developed and soon became a center for agricultural production, trade, and luxury goods. New Baltimore’s economy was bolstered by its location on the Michigan River, which allowed for easy shipping andexport of goods. The town also enjoyed access to important natural resources such as coal and oil. In 1857, New Baltimore annexed the neighboring village of Westville, creating one of the most populous municipalities in Michigan at that time.
