Muskegon is a city in Wayne County, Michigan, United States. The population was 25,811 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Wayne County. Muskegon is one of the ten most populous cities in Michigan. The Muskegon area has been inhabited by Native Americans for more than three thousand years. The first European to visit the area was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1523 and he named it "Verona" after his home town in Italy. At that time there were no towns or villages within present-day Muskegon Township. In 1817, landowner John Davenport sold 1/4 mile (1 km) of what would become Muskegon Township to David Herter for $100 cash only because he did not have any heirs! Settlement began in earnest on July 4, 1818 when four men from Grosse Pointe Farms purchased two hundred acres (20 ha) of land west of the Ottawa River from David Herter and laid out a town called "Hertersville". This settlement grew rapidly and by 1830 had a population of 300 people! By 1840 there were over 1,000 people living in Hertersville and it became known as the "Township Capital". In 1837, General Lewis Cass appointed James Kapp as Surveyor General for Wayne County; Kapp's job was to survey all public lands within Wayne County including but not limited to township boundaries! On November 2, 1837, James Kapp surveyed what would becomemuskegon Township! The first settler in muskegon Township was Abram Calkins who bought two hundred acres (20 ha) of land from David Herter on July 4th, 1818! Abram Calkins settled near where modern day Main Street meets US-27 south of Old Fort Street. After Abram Calkins arrived in muskegon township his wife Fannie bought him an acre (0.40 ha) lot next door to her husband Abram's original land purchase which became known as "Fannie's Corner". Fannie's Corner developed into what is today Elmwood Cemetery! There are several other settlements throughout musk
As coffee began to be enjoyed by humans, it was some time before any sort of craft coffee brewing techniques were in place. The first coffee roasters likely started out with a blend of different beans and then roasted them themselves. It wasn’t until the early 1800s that any real distinction was made between artisan and commercial coffee. However, there are a number of interesting stories associated with artisan coffee brewing. For example, one story suggests that Luigi Beccaria, an Italian philosopher and author who is most known for his work on Aristotle’s Ethics, might have been responsible for developing the idea of using only premium quality beans when making coffee. Additionally, Gordon Biersch may have been the first restaurant to offer hand-roasted beans as part of their menu back in 1893. Nevertheless, throughout the years there has been a consistent trend towards greater creativity and innovation when it comes to artisanal coffees. For example, recent attempts at creating unique flavor profiles have seen many different types of roasted coffees being produced. This includes blends that are both complex and flavorful while also having an earthy or floral taste. Additionally, roast times can vary significantly based on location which can create unique flavors depending on what time of day you drink your cup!
There is a long and varied history of artisan coffee. Coffee has been brewed for centuries in many different ways, with variations in flavor and quality. Some of the earliest examples of espresso date back to the 6th century BC, when ancient Egyptians drank pisse mouche (a type of coffee) from small cups made from an animal’s dung.

By 1830 there were over 20 settlers living in or near Muskegon Heights. In 1831 Wilkinson sold his holdings to Captain William Ladd for $2,500 cash and four horses. Ladd became one of the most important figures in earlyMuskegon history as he developed mills onthe River Rouge which powered Detroit's first steam engine in 1835. With mills alongthe Rouge producing cottonseed oil forDetroit's cars and other products during the 1830s-40s (a time whenDetroit was still a small village),Ladd helped spur development within Muskegon County itself as well asin neighboring Lake State Counties and Shiawassee Township.. In response to increased demand for goods produced by American companies located upstream onthe Upper Peninsula during this period of rapid industrial growth throughout northeastMichigan (known locally as "The Great Lakes Region"),Ladd donated property adjacent tohisnow-demolished mill site back into public ownership under government auspices with an eye towardindustrialization.. In 1845 he sold additional tracts of land including thoselying around present-day Muskegon City limitshe had purchased fromuthome owners John Mason & James Nicholson back in1832for $10 per acre ..
