The Michigan Air National Guard's 1st Fighter Wing is the only air force in the United States that has World War II vintage aircraft. The wing also operates two piston-engine Boeing 727s as part of its "Flying Tigers" flying history program. In 1990, when Muskegon County was created from parts of Oakland and Wayne counties, it became one of the first communities in Michigan to have an airport. In 1993, Muskegon Valley Airport received a gift from then-Governor George Romney and his wife Betty to be used as their primary airport. It served as the main airport for Muskegon until 1997 when Macomb County acquired Olathe Regional Airport and took over operations from Muskegon Valley Airport. During the Vietnam War, Air Force One was used on several occasions by President Richard Nixon for visits to military bases in order to appear as if he were a visiting general or head of state instead of simply an American president who was visiting troops fighting in Vietnam. Nixon would often take off from Clark Air Force Base near Sacramento, California en route to tour various USAF units stationed at Misawa Air Base outside Tokyo while on his way back home. Nixon's last visit to Japan occurred during his presidency when he flew into Hiroshima after its bombing and delivered messages about peace treaty negotiations between Japan and China which had begun that year. He also visited Ise Air Base where he met with Japanese Prime Minister Tanaka Kakuei before traveling north past Osaka to Kansai for another stop at Kobe before returning home via Nagoya Municipal Airport

The Muskegon Air National Guard flew into action during World War II. The unit was activated in 1942 and operated from the Muskegon County Airport. In 1945, the group became the 20th Bombardment Wing and continued operations until disbanding in 1951. Today, the wing is part of Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Muskegon, Michigan is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Muskegon County. The population was 927 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Flint River, about 20 miles (32 km) south of Detroit, and is the largest city in Muskegon County by area. The first permanent settler in what would become Muskegon County was Simon DeBarge in 1798. The town of Muskegon was founded by him on July 1, 1800, as a post office with the name "Mushocton". In 1824, as part of an effort to create a central government for all of Wayne County under which all other counties could compete equally for economic development and tax revenue, DeBarge proposed that Muskegon be made the county seat; it received this proposal and approval from both Congress and Governor John Prentice. On January 1, 1825, Muskegon became the county seat when all other localities were combined into Wayne County under this new system. The first courthouse in town was built in 1828 on State Street near Water Street; it burned down in 1835 but was rebuilt and moved to its present location two years later. The building now known as Old Town Hall served as courthouse until 1903 when a new courthouse was erected on Front Street between Third Avenue and Michigan Avenue; it remains functioning as a courthouse today. In 1847, General James Krieger laid out what would become Downtown Muskegon with wide streets parallel to each other and large squares at various points around it; Krieger called these "avenues", which remain important features today. Downtown also contains several historical buildings including: Grand Rapids Bank Building (now occupied by Assumption Parish), First National Bank (now occupied by MBIA), Two Churches (now used as apartments), Masonic Temple (now used as a movie theater),and Hotel Griggs (now used as apartments). In 1896–97, prominent architect George Hennepin designed three major blocks surrounding downtown – Eastern Market Square (later renamed Central Park), Main Street/Hennepin Avenue South/Stadium Place East/Downtown West Shopping Center – which are still important elements of Downtown Muskegons skyline today. These blocks were completed just before downtown experienced significant redevelopment after World War II led by entrepreneurs such as Leonard Coleman who purchased many properties east of Main Street along Hennepin Avenue South between Third Avenue and Michigan Avenue during that time period into what is now MidtownMuskoxville/. While much has changed since then withinmuskogontown-including gentrification-much remains unchanged regarding its history & culture making downtown one of the most popular tourist destinations in Metro Detroit!
Airforce gift history dates back to World War II when the United States Air Force began purchasing gifts for its allies. From dog tags and buttons to movie tickets and radios, the USAF has given back over time with some pretty nifty things. In honor of its 150th anniversary this year, we’re taking a look at some of the most memorable air force gifts in history! The first time the USAF gave away something was during World War II when it started gifting items such as dogtags and buttons to friendly forces. After the war, they continued to do so by purchasing books, movies, radios, etc., which were then sent to various allies around the world. The USAF also created an appreciation society in 1947 which awarded medals and scholarships for servicemen and women who had contributed their time or resources to American military efforts abroad. In 1951, when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, America responded with Operation Pacific Lion which involved sending fighter planes from bases all over Japan into battle against Japanese Navy warships. This was followed byOperationidetrooper in 1954 which saw American pilots engaging Japanese ground troops in Manchuria. Following these events, the USAF began giving out more specific items such as trophies and mementos related to those wars or operations. As technology improved throughout the years, so too did AFB gift history; for instance, in 2007 they introduced a “Gift of Command” program where individuals could purchase items that would commemorate a colonel or brigadier general’s accomplishments within the USAF. These days there is even an annual AF Global Warming Awards ceremony which features members of both services presenting awards honoring excellence in environmental stewardship across all branches of service!

Muskegon is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, with a population of 103,871 as of 2018. The Muskegon Peninsula forms much of the eastern border of the city and is bordered by Lake Superior to the east, Wayne County to the south, and Shiawassee County to the west. It was founded in 1824 as part of what would become Detroit Township on the north side of Muskegon River. The township was consolidated into City government in 1868. As one of its first decisions, Mayor John Crain designated December 6th as "Muskegon Day" in honor of this designation. In 1901 it became an incorporated town and remains so today. The first people known to have inhabited what is now Muskegon came from upper Canada around 1800 AD when Native Americans made visits downriver from Manistee Heights on the lower Michigan peninsula (now Ontario). They may have been followed by Scandinavian settlers who arrived about 1800–1810; or by English immigrants who reached Muskegon about 1795 CE. By 1800 there were at least 10 families living here, most likely led by Loyalists fleeing British rule during the American Revolution–the Battle for Detroit included some 1,500 British soldiers killed or captured including General George Washington himself! In 1824 US-native trader Joseph Green sold land near present-day downtown Muskegon for $600 to Henry Ford Sr., one half owner with his brother James Fenton – two other white men had also participated in purchasing over 4 square miles (11 km²) for $4 per acre (1/2 hectare). Ford’s nephew Edward Moseley then bought another 2 acres (0.8 hectares) which he used as his family's farm until 1893 when he partnered with Augustus Biddle Jr., buying an additional 5 acres (2 hectares) that served as their home until 1909 when they moved out because they became too expensive to maintain! Today's Pioneer Cemetery near Cadillac Boulevard and Washtenaw Avenue marks where these early pioneers interred those who passed away before 1830 while still living below poverty line levels: 177 individuals are buried there between 1825 and 1840! Notably absent are any Revolutionary War veterans – although many local townspeople claimed military experience during that period due to nearby Fort Dearborn being guarded by British troops garrisoned there at that time! Ultimately only 9% or less – all but 3 graves identified thus far – from this initial group remain today! Some interesting facts about this Early Settlers Cemetery include: nearly all male deaths were caused natural causes; burials took place outdoors rather than inside homes “in case Indians should come along”; average lifespan was just 54 years (!); majority Caucasian (>98%); few Black or Native American residents… although quite a fewundo pioneer families did settle in area after 1830 A total OF THE COGNATE INNIENTS FIGURELY EVER VISITED MUSKEGON COUNTY BEFORE 1850…..SO EACH FAMILY CONTAINED ABOUT 8 INDIVIDUAL WITNESSES TO THEIR OWN LIFE HERE BEFORE THEM…..INTERESTING FACT THAT MORE THAN HALF OF ALL DEATHS CAUSED BY NATURAL CANCER IN THIS AREA WERE SUSPENDED BY REASON OF ENVIRONMENT OR OTHER CRITICAL INTEREST
The first white settlement in Muskegon was on the east side of the river, near what is now downtown. The town was founded by Captain John Beal in 1799. By 1800, Muskegon had a population of around 100 people. In 1807, General Wayne founded Detroit and Muskegon lost its status as a town.
