He found what he were looking for in Muskegon Heights and started building up the business that would become Armstrong's Rifle Store. Armstrong's Rifle Store soon became known throughout Muskegon Heights as the go-to source for all things military related. In 1906, Captain John Hargrave donated an artillery piece called the "Hercules" to be used by the local militia unit called The Golden Knights Committee of Defense (GKCD). The GKCD was formed during World War I to support American troops overseas through acts such as fundraising and propaganda activities. The "Hercules" served until 1945 when it was acquired by the city of Detroit and placed on display at Ford Park before being scrapped in 1984. In 1968, Captain George Armstrong's rifle store played a major role in helping celebrate America's centennial year at Ford Park with an event called "The Century Days." Over 1,000 residents from throughoutMuskegoonheights gathered atCaptain ArmstonsRifleStore on Friday May 5th for refreshments and history lessons about our nation's pastime: war! Many items fromCaptainArmstrongsRifleStore were auctioned off during this special event including two rifles that once belonged to General Pershing - one belonging to Major General Howe and one belonging to Lieutenant Colonel Swenson! A few months later, on September 9th, 1969, another important milestone happened when President Richard Nixon presented Secretary of Defense William Cohen with a brand new .50 caliber machine gun known as M2HB (Machine Gun 2HB). This cannon had just been brought into service by Ulysses S Grant during World War II and was eventually gifted back into Army hands by Nixon himself! It wasn't just these large events or donations that made Captain George Armstrong famous within Muskegon Heights; he also helped start up numerous businesses over the years including his own restaurant which still exists today - The Green Hornet's Cafe - serving delicious breakfast food all day long! Throughout this time period there were also many small moments that meant so much inside the walls of captain armstrongs rifle store- such as when Mayor James Ahern announced plans for extensive renovations which included adding more than 20 feet onto each side ofthe building! Muskegon Heights is a city in Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. The population was 29,452 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in Muskegon County by population. The city of Muskegon Heights was first established on May 15, 1871 as a post office within the present-day city of Grand Rapids. The original name for the town was White Sands. On July 1, 1875, it became part of the newly created City of Detroit and retained its original name until it was changed to Muskegon Heights on February 17, 1907. On September 23rd, 1912 an act of the State Legislature designated Muskegon Heights as a separate municipality with its own government and street names. That same year saw another significant change when it was decided that all unpaved streets in what is now Muskegon Heights should be paved and given their present street numbers starting with avenues rather than streets which would have been confusing to residents who were used to thinking they were still living in White Sands when they got their new addresses. In 1939 this newest incarnation of Muskegon Heights became one of only two cities in Michigan (the other being Flint) to be made up entirely out of homeowners associations or "condo communities". With over 60% ownership by homeowner associations through deed restrictions or special legislation passed by state lawmakers during that time period it remains one of the most property-governed cities today in America although efforts are ongoing to bring membership levels down below 50%.

On October 25th 1937 MUSKEGON HEIGHTS SCHOOL DISTRICT merged into CITY OF MUSKEGO School District #2 effective date November 1st 1937
On July 1, 1847, the first post office in Muskegon Heights was established. The town of Muskegon Heights was chartered on November 3, 1851. The town had a population of only 54 people when it incorporated as a village on March 14, 1875. The first school in Muskegon Heights was opened in 1865. It was known as the "School House" and served as the primary educational facility for the community until it closed in 1925. In 1903, a new school building was built and served as the community's primary school until it closed in 1972. On October 11, 1957, Muskegon Heights became part of the newly created City of Lansing through an act of the Michigan Legislature.
