After the end of World War I, the United States military began to retire its large numbers of veteran soldiers. In 1919, Congress authorized the Department of War to sell small arms and artillery to civilians. The War Department's Small Arms Division was created in 1921 and soon became one of the largest small arms dealers in the world. With such an extensive inventory, it was necessary for the division to subdivide all weapons into classes, which led to their naming: "Ammunition," "Weapons," etc. In 1924, a new bureau within the Department of War was established known as Army Ammunition Plant No. 1 (later renamed as Fort Ord). Its mission was to produce munitions for both national defense and war industry.Army Ammunition Plant No. 1 produced over 20 million rounds of ammunition per year by 1945 alone! During World War II, Army Ammunition Plant No. 1 played an important role in supplying ammunition for both allies and Axis forces around the world. In addition, it manufactured munitions used in Operation Overlord including 5 inch naval guns and 155 mm howitzers

Mount Clemens is a small town located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, United States. The population was 3,541 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Muskegon Heights Micropolitan Statistical Area. Mount Clemens is located on the eastern bank of the Cheboygan River, about 20 miles west of downtown Muskegon Heights and about 25 miles east of Grand Rapids. The village was platted in 1836 by John Dickey as part of a larger land grant to Simon Cameron from Toronto. The original name for Mount Clemens was "Oak Knob". In 1854, when Michigan became a state, it added "Clemens" to its name and this has been its official name ever since. The Village growth began slowly due to lack of transportation and an easy access to water supplies until after World War II when roads were built and businesses opened up around the area. Today's economy revolves around agriculture with some manufacturing being done as well such as plastics products made at Ford Motor Company's Rouge plant which are exported all over the world.

Mount Clemens is a small city in the U.S. state of Michigan, located on the Rouge River, about 25 miles northwest of Detroit. The population was 3,824 at the 2010 census. The Mount Clemens area was first settled by Native Americans in the 17th century. A post office called Clemens was established in 1811, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1912. In 1827, a group of Dutch immigrants founded a settlement here and named their new town "Hemphill". The name Hemphill reverted to Mount Clemens when the town became an incorporated village in 1831. Michiganders voted to create a university here in 1865 and it began granting degrees from 1861 to 1870. It became known as Wayne State University after General George Washington Carver donated land for the school and $5,000 for its establishment. The university relocated to its current site on Woodward Avenue near Gratiot Avenue in 1901 following donation from Augustus Davenport Ford (1837-1901). Ford served as president of Wayne State from 1911-1920 and 1921-1925; he also donated land for campus expansion that included buildings now occupied by McGraw Hall and North Hall dormitories. In 1916, World War I interrupted development of Wayne State's main campus; however, much of that original construction still stands today including Gratiot Avenue auditorium which played host to many famous performances during that time such as Beethoven's Ninth Symphony concerto conducted by Wilhelm Kempff on October 22nd 1918 (the only time this performance took place outside Germany). Many other famous events have been held at or around Wayne State Stadium such as Notre Dame vs USC football game on November 27th 1954 (the last time these two teams met), Muhammad Ali's heavyweight championship bout against Joe Frazier on April 12th 1971 (a record then), NHL® Stanley Cup Finals Game 5 between Boston Bruins & Detroit Red Wings on December 7th 1981 (a record then), etcetera... Indiana bought most of what is now Mount Clemens from the United States government for $10 million cash plus future revenues generated from mineral rights granted under Indian Treaty 9 November 1835 #6[1]. This purchase made way for settlement growth across both banks - with farmers moving into towns east along each bank while industry grew westward along Ontario Street towards riverfront properties overlooking downtownDetroit& later Saginaw Bayou close thereto which were leased back to US Government entities like DDTC [2] & WSU [3]. Mount Clemens is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Oakland County. The population was 8,059 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1837 by John Clemens and his family as a small community on the eastern bank of the Muskegon River. The town grew rapidly during the 1840s and 1850s, thanks to its location within easy walking distance of both Detroit and Grand Rapids, and education opportunities in nearby Hillsdale Institute made it an important center for early industrial development in Michigan. In 1868, Mount Clemens became a statehood settlement when it was chosen as one of five towns in Wayne County that would become part of the new state; it remained an agricultural community until after World War II when industry took over. As late as 1957, only 2% of Mount Clemens' workforce was employed in manufacturing; today, however, there are several major factories located within or near downtown Mount Clemens including Ford Motor Company (the largest employer), General Motors (second largest employer), DTE Energy (largest energy provider), and Allstate Auto Insurance Co., which has its main office on Main Street across from Griswold's department store. Mount Clemens also has a significant agricultural component with apples being an important crop grown hereabouts; local wineries also produce wine and other alcoholic beverages such as whiskey.
