Gun gift history in Monroe, Michigan started with the purchase of a revolver from A.G. Barnett in 1876. The next year, John Daugherty bought a shotgun and stock from the same store. In 1878, combination handguns were purchased from Mr. Barnett and these became known as “Daugherty guns”. From 1880-1882, four different families owned the store: Daugherty, Ballard, Goodrich and Michalak (the last family owning the business until it closed in 1922). In 1885/86, Wm Hickey bought a rifle from A.G. Barnett which he named the Hickey Rifle after himself and his father-in-law (Hickey was also an owner of the store). The rifle was used by Sheriff Tom Power during his term of office starting in 1886 until 1889 when he resigned due to health reasons. In 1888/89 Mrs. Lavinia Goodrich donated three shotguns to Monroe Municipality for use by townspeople during dances at night time (these shotguns were kept at police headquarters until 1912 when they were moved to Grosse Pointe Park). From 1890-1893 two different families owned the business: White House & Company and Smith & Wesson (the first company selling firearms here). In 1893/94 Grosse Pointe Park opened up and gun dealers began opening up shop there including A&A Arms which is where some of today’s most popular firearms come from such as Ruger pistols and revolvers manufactured here between 1895-1909 under license from Colt Firearms Corporation; this marks one of only three times that any type of firearm production outside America took place within Wayne County limits! The Henry Repeating Arms Company operated out of their building on Ottawa Street between Gratiot Avenue & Western Avenue for about ten years beginning in 1899 before moving to their current location on Commerce Street near Grand River Drive in 1923; this is also where many handgun manufacturers developed their products such as Glock AGI akimbo pistols etc.; leave it to Guns N’ Roses frontman Slash who fronted GN'R while still working at A&A Arms during its latter years(1988-) ..... It wasn't until 1913 that Grosse Pointe Park made way for its own city hall which housed both Police Headquarters as well as City Hall Library since 1907! This coincided with a growing trend towards gun ownership among residents here as mentioned earlier with businesses like A&A Arms starting offering rifles for sale too! Starting around 1915 or 1916 various other companies started selling firearms through Grosse Pointe Park including Winchester Ammunition Company Limited; finally taking over Bigham's Store located on Washington Boulevard west of Ionia Road following Bigham's death in 1924!!! "The Gun Shop That Rocks" reopened its doors back up again after being closed down by state authorities pursuant to an order issued by Judge Harry Sawyer Jr.. On October 26th 1924 local law enforcement responded to what appeared to be an illegal arms sale taking place inside "The Gun Shop That Rocks". After inspecting the premises they discovered that no arms had been sold but rather items belonging to local farmer George Worth who had just recently lost his lease on land adjacent to "The Gun Shop That Rocks". Following Worth's complaint state officials ordered "The Gun Shop That Rocks" closed effective immediately pending further investigation…. State law prohibited retailers - even those operating under licenses - from dealing directly with individuals without first obtaining prior written consent FROM THE COUNTY EMPLOYEES!!! As per court order all weapons sales must now take place through licensed dealers."

Monroe is a small town in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is located on the former Grand Traverse Bayou, now part of the Kalkaska River and Muskegon Lake system. The population was 9,452 at the 2010 census. The first residents of Monroe were Germans who came to the area in 1836 from what is now Germany and eastern Prussia. They built a log cabin on the bayou and named it "Heidelberg". Monroe became a village in 1851 when its post office was established there. The town was named after James Monroe, the first U.S. president and brother-in-law of George Washington, who served as Secretary of State under John Adams. The town began as a post office on January 1, 1836, with a population of 30 residents. It became an incorporated village on February 13, 1854 by an act of the Michigan Legislature. On July 16, 1959 it became a city through an act of the state legislature. In 1976 it lost its charter and reverted to its status as a village
