Marquette is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Washtenaw County. It wasn't until 1959 that Interstate 94 was built through central Michigan linking Chicago with Detroit creating more opportunities for businesses within metropolitan areas3;4 but even then there were few if any improvements or expansions inside or beyond downtown Marquette itself5;6 despite this lack of progress downtown some saw opportunity where once there had been none7a%. In recent decades Downtown has seen renewed interest with developers investing significant amounts into improving infrastructure8;9and programming10 such as art exhibits11.;12 There are several reasons why Downtown Marquette continues to grow despite challenges faced elsewhere throughout metro Detroit300 (); 400 (); 500 (); 600 ().
