In Lansing, Michigan, the air force has been deploying gift history for over sixty years. The gift history of the air force can be traced back to World War II when Lansing was a part of the Great Lakes Naval District. The USAF deployed the A-10 Thunderbolt II Warthog for the first time in Iraq in 2003. The A-10 is a highly advanced aircraft that can fly at high altitudes and provide air support with its powerful cannons and missiles. It has a long endurance, making it ideal for operations in hostile environments. The Warthog is also equipped with an infrared search and track system, making it easy to find targets on the battlefield.
The Lansing Air National Guard detachment deployed a Christmas gift to members of the City of Lansing on Dec. 12. The gift was a new Cessna 182L aircraft and an airplane hangar conversion kit. The squadron's commanding officer, Maj. Gen. Brian Fenton, said the aircraft is perfect for use as services in the city during next year's cold weather seasons.

It has helped promote bilateral relationships between our militaries and has also provided opportunities for servicemen and women from across our continent to interact with their counterparts abroad.
