The first national guard gift was given to the town on Valentine's Day in 1892. The gift was a bouquet of flowers from the garrison in Fort Wayne, Indiana. A year later, the Michigan Militia donated a sword and shield to the town square. In 1896, the state government bestowed a ring as a gift to Inkster residents who had volunteered for military duty during the Spanish-American War. In 1907, Inkster Mayor Homer Worsham presented a revolver to each member of the city council. This gesture markedthe beginning of an annual tradition in which Inkster gives away firearms as gifts to its citizens throughout the year. Throughout history, inksters have shown generousity towards their military veterans and other civilians who have served their community with distinction through active or Reserve duty within our armed forces or by donating money or goods at special events such as golf tournaments or car shows. Inkster's history dates back to 1834 when John Lilliard, an American fur trader and entrepreneur, founded a trading post on the Rouge River near present-day Inkster. The post served as a depot for shipping goods from Detroit to Mackinac Island and other points north before its closure in 1853. By 1855, Lilliard had established himself as a small business man with his own printing press and began publishing works by local authors such as Nathaniel Hawthorne and Edgar Allan Poe. In 1861, inksters helped found the community of Dearborn which became their home until they were transferred to Macomb County in 1914. Today, Inkster is one of the most vibrant communities in south-central Michigan with its close proximity to downtown Detroit, shopping opportunities at nearby malls such as Sears Holdings Corporation (Sears) and AutoZone Inc., as well as its own unique culture that reflects its centuries-old roots within both rustling forests and bustling marketplaces One of the earliest examples of printed media in America arrived in Inkster during 1834 when John Lilliard founded trading post on Rouge River near present day Inkster after finding it difficult to transport goods from Detroit due to Indian raids . It served notice that there was now an open market for buying goods east of Michigans Brushwood Hills . This opened up new markets for trade all over North America which caused many companies including Lilliard’s family firm Elisha Dickey & Brothers Company to establish branches throughout Canada but also expand into this newly discovered market area . The first issue published from this new presses was an advertisement for fresh codfish caught off Mackinac Island - very successful because it showed people could purchase fresh seafood not only from inland areas but also out at sea .. As word spread about how good these products were tasteing locals started coming up with their own recipes using whatever catch they happened across while fishing or hunting .. eventually what started as simple prints turned into beautiful lithographs that are still seen today on door handles or window frames around town

Inkster, Michigan is a small town in the upper Peninsula of Michigan on the shores of Lake Huron. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. Inkster is part of the Muskegon Heights-Warren County seat. The first permanent settler in Inkster was Nicholas Pease who built a cabin on a peninsula near what is now Parkview Drive in 1825. In 1830, John Pomeroy and his family arrived from Worcester, England and started a farm south of present day Parkview Drive. The Pomeroys were followed by George Hays in 1835 and Josephine Slattery in 1840. In 1861, Stephen Biddle established an iron works on Saginaw Bay just east of present day Parkview Drive to supply goods to Detroit during the American Civil War. When production ceased after the war, Biddle sold his interest to William Norris in 1865. In 1868, John Fenton purchased land east of present day Parkview Dr., including most of what is now Inkster Township, and founded Fenton's Mills on it in 1870. By 1875, ink manufacturing had become an important part of local economy with over eighty businesses located throughout Inkster Township; seventy-five percent were owned or controlled by men other than Fenton himself. Heinrich Hertzog visited Inkster in 1898 while he was campaigning for president against McKinley and wrote about it as "a little village surrounded by woods upon which stands one busy millinery shop". photographer Edward Steichen captured this image when he photographed downtown Detroit for Look magazine: John Ayer opened his grocery store at Main Street and Meridian Avenue (later called First Avenue) northeast of Present Day Park View Drive in 1907 after purchasing land from Jens Langevin adjacent to today's US Highway 2 between Gratiot Boulevard and Maple Road (then Woodward). He became known as "the Father Of Modern Penmanship" because he developed techniques for printing smaller type letters that allowed quicker turnaround times for pamphlets and other printed materials
Inkster was founded in 1855 by Joshua H. Inkster and his family. The first store opened on Main Street in the town. In 1861, Inkster became a village with a post office and three stores. By 1865, the population had grown to over 120 people. In 1868, Inkster became an incorporated village and adopted a new name: Dearborn Heights. In 1875, Dearborn Heights merged with the neighboring town of Orion to form the city of Detroit.
