Highland Park is a census-designated place (CDP) in Wayne County, Michigan, United States. The population was 15,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Detroit–Warren–Dearborn metropolitan area. The town was incorporated as a village on December 12, 1868; and by 1890 it had a population of 350 people. During prohibition years (1920-1922), many businesses closed because they could not afford to enforce Prohibition laws which were very expensive to enforce given that drug trafficking was still an important part of this economy at that time
