The Highland Park Army Base was founded on December 17, 1916 by the United States War Department. It was then named Fort Dearborn until it was redesignated as Highland Park Army Base on October 1, 1949. The base is now located in the city of Highland Park and is home to three military districts- the 8th Infantry Divisional District, the 9th Infantry Divisional District, and the 10th Armored Cavalry Regiment. The 10th Armored Cavalry Regiment has since been disbanded but its unit insignia remain on display at both Fort Dearborn and Highland Park Army Base. Highland Park is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, located on the north side of the Straits of Mackinac. The population was 31,521 at the 2010 census. Highland Park is part of the Flint Area School District. The first settlement in what is now Highland Park was made by English fishermen in 1794 as a result of their efforts to find an anchorage for their ships along the Mackinac River. The town was named after Sir John Macdonald, then Prime Minister of Canada and later First Lord of the Admiralty in 1802-3 who granted it land at its current site on June 8, 1812. In 1835, settlers from Upper Canada founded Ottawa Township and within two years had laid out a town called "Albion" across from downtown Detroit on land that would eventually become Highland Park. Albion's original buildings were destroyed by fire in 1839 but new ones were erected and soon became known as one of America's most prestigious towns – with residents including some prominent members of Congress such as James Kapp and John Atherton (founder and first president of Alcoa). The opening day for cars to enter Highland Park came about two weeks after President Franklin D. This issue would come up again more than 20 years later when Edison Electric Institute shuttered its operations generating less than 1% annually off total employment levels across entire area creating serious housing shortages throughout southern Michigan however no annexation proposal was ever put forth nor did anyone ever mention ultimately causing former City Manager George Prentice resignation effective January 1st 1991 citing “the lack thereof consistency throughout our government structure” although he admits there may have been better ways had he been given more control over eventual annexation proposals! One could make the argument that certain decisions made by previous City Managers may have hampered future annexation efforts without actually happening but ultimately responsibility lies with those who preceded them! It should be noted that high density residential areas are becoming increasingly popular choices outside Detroit rather than drive into downtown seeking services however annexed areas still experience high crime rates particularly violent crime rates which continue unabated even 50 years after incorporation making it difficult for police officers/officers working security detail night shift + dayshift etc.) Despite experiencing many challenges during its formative years, Holy Cross Cathedral quickly emerged as one community leader invoking support throughout her congregation giving rise to organizations like Habitat For Humanity which has since helped build over 400 homes & numerous other charitable programs in her neighborhood today serving both individuals & families struggling through tough times
