Commemoration events honoring servicemen/women whose lives have been changed forever by service are held annually on October 11th called Heroes Day Motorcade which starts at 9am at Veterans Memorial Park then travels down Main Street past City Hall followed by various restaurants downtown before returning home at 10pm[9][10], making this an extremely important day observance throughout ournation! Grand Haven, Michigan is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Allegany County. The population was 29,681 at the 2010 census, making it the 8th largest city in Michigan and the 44th largest city in United States as of 2015. It is part of the Detroit-Warren-Dearborn Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first human settlement in what would become Grand Haven was made on July 10, 1837 by George Stephenson with his crew on the "Natchez". It was located on Mud Lake near present-day Southport Township. The town was named after General John Pemberton's flagship vessel "General Howe", which sailed around mud flats near where Fort Dearborn now stands to bring supplies to Fort Wayne during their war against Indian Nations. In 1843, George Stephenson founded Grand Haven Savings Bank which still exists today as one of America's oldest commercial banks. In 1847, Grand Haven became an incorporated community under Act No. 9 of that year; this act allowed for organized civic improvements such as firefighting and police services and helped lay the groundwork for future growth within what would become Grand Haven Township (). At this time there were only 50 residents in town limits but by 1860 there were 1,000+. The railroad arrived in 1870s when businessman Jno Crain established a line from Chicago to White Flint Junction (now Ann Arbor) via Battle Creek and then downriver to West Michigan before reaching Grand Haven railway station at Harbor Springs just south of downtown (the station is now called Harbor Springs Landing). This created jobs for local people who built trackside cottages along both lines; today many buildings still remain from those days including one preserved at Railroad Museum Depot #2 across from Harbor Springs Landing Historical Association building.) One other development significant to early life here was First National Bank which opened its doors on December 20, 1872 with $5 million worth of notes bearing President Grover Cleveland’s signature! With printing presses available nearby – primarily at Morrice Paper Company – citizens quickly started creating new businesses including lumberyards, breweries and grocery stores all vying for space alongside existing institutions like First National Bank/Grand Rapids Savings & Loan Assn., Masonic Temple (now known as Tredgold Art Gallery), Ransom House Hotel and numerous others until eventually becoming an integral part of local fabric that continues to this day! grand haven has seen more than its share of change throughout its history most notably through waves of immigration over ensuing decades resulting in quite a few cultural icons being born here such as former Mayor Edwina Johnson (D) who represented District 2 between 2001-2011; current Mayor Jeff Heitkamp (R) also hails from this area having been elected November 3rd 2009 following a campaign spanning over 4 years!

The population was 137,353 at the 2010 census, making it the 9th-largest city in Michigan and the second-largest city in Washtenaw County behind Detroit. It is also one of the two cities in Michigan with a metropolitan area designation (the other being Flint). Grand Haven was founded on July 20, 1834 by Augustus Richards and others as Grand Rapids City. On January 1, 1907, it became part of Detroit after it was annexed by that city from its original location to the south side of Mackinac Island. In 1999, Grand Haven became one of five cities within Michigan to be granted an urban development district status which exempted it from property taxation by the state government for certain purposes such as economic development and infrastructure improvement projects. The first European settlement in what is now Grand Haven occurred when French traders established a fur trading post on Mackinac Island between 1804 and 1807. The first permanent settler arrived in what is now Grand Haven Township on October 5, 1818 when Isaac Chauncey opened a store at what is now downtown Chippewa Landing on Mackinac Bayou near present day West Side Road and First Street East. By 1830 there were over 50 settlers living here including some who had moved from northern Indiana or Kentucky since 1800s during this time period known as "Mackinacclearans". Many early settlers came directly from Indiana through rapids on Mackinac River crossing including John Cline who crossed May 23rd 1833 with his family while still under construction of Cline Ferry Bridge across today's Old Huron Road just east of downtown; future president Abraham Lincoln also traveled through that area early portions of his political career before he moved upriver to Ballwin (now Lansing) in mid-1906 following his election victory at Ford’s Theater in Dearborn Heights (now Ann Arbor). In December 1835 Richards - Augustus Richards' father - organized a group led by George Stephenson to purchase 640 acres (255 hectares) along Molineaux Creek outside present day downtown Grand Rapids for $5 per acre ($75 total), land that would become today's core business district including much of downtown/downtown business district along Woodward Avenue between Main Street Southwest and 4th Ave SW extending northward into today's Midtown neighborhood bounded by 7th Ave NW., 8th Ave NW., 10TH Ave NW., Gratiot Avenue NE., Hubbard Avenue NE., 2nd Ave SE & 3rd Ave SE forming today's University District punctuated only slightly by Northwestern State College Campus located southeast corner street corner lot block east & west center line Of NStateridge Rd & WEdwards Rd Address: 322 W Third St #202 Phone: 612-233-3333
