In 1941, Chevrolet began sales in Garden City and soon after, there was an increase in demand for marine gift items from customers. At that time there were only two stores sell marine gifts: theDeer Park Store operated by founder Roy Deering and also located at 5th Ave SE in downtown Garden City. In 1951, John Deere merged with Cadillac Motor Corporation creating one of America’s largest automotive companies. With this merger came an increase in marketing resources for fleets of boats (Marine Gifts became part of Cadillac Fleet Products). Cadillac Fleet Products continued to grow in popularity over time until it was eventually acquired by Chevrolet management in 1984. Chevrolet then discontinued production of Marine Gifts products entirely within their organization – leaving them without a retail storefront or online presence however they continue to be produced through other channels including truckloads of parts made available through authorized dealerships throughout North America! The museum began displaying artifact from Michigan's maritime history and culture, as well as paintings, sculpture, and pottery from around the world. In 1951, Garden City became one of the first cities in Michigan to annex rural areas surrounding it. As a result of this annexation, the city grew its collection of maritime artifacts even more. Garden City is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 7,471 at the 2010 census. Garden City is part of the Grand Rapids–Wasteland, MI metropolitan area. It is bordered by Holland to the south, Iron County to the east, and Upper Peninsula of Michigan to the north. The first permanent settler in Garden City was James Hutton who arrived in 1836 and named it after his home town, Garden Rentshire in England. In 1854, he donated land for a public square and school district was formed out of parts of Holland Township and Bay View Township.. In 1881, Garden City incorporated as a city under the name "Garden City." The name change reflected growing concern about improving conditions for blacks living near white townships across central Michigan during this time period. In 1907, when all municipalities within Washtenaw County were consolidated into one county under the new government structure known as "Municipalities Consolidated", GardenCity became part of that county as well. "Garden City" continued to be used intermittently until 1959 when it was replaced by "Grand Rapids".

The history of Garden City can be traced back to 1868 when Alexander Garden and his wife Esther decided to settle in what is now called Garden City after spending time living on the banks of the Menominee River. They named their new town after their daughter Gertrude’s birthplace, Garden City, New York. In 1870, Alexander and Esther purchased 640 acres of land east of Detroit for $5 per acre. This purchase set the stage for what would become one of Michigan’s most successful agricultural communities. Over time, they developed this land into a thriving community that boasted a variety of businesses including grocery stores, schools, churches (including one built byAlexander himself), hospitals, mines, mills—alligator farms, and dairy herds. In addition to its agriculture sector, GardenCity also became well-known as a cultural center during this time period thanks to its numerous organizations such as the American Institute in Russia (AIAR), which was started in 1875 by gardeners who had fled czarist Russia. AIAR hosted lectures on Russian culture and cuisine as well as art exhibitions throughoutMichigan; among these events were an opera performance by Tchaikovsky in 1907 that featured Works Progress Administration workers from Detroit performing backstage at Fox Theatre; and an open-air concert featuring works by Wagner at Masonic Temple on Valentine’s Day 1909 that drew more than 20 000 spectators!
