In 1997, they moved to what is now called the Fountain Square Shopping Center on Broadway. They continued to serve only coffee until they decided to add tea in 2007. Garden City, Michigan is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Ingham County. The population was 532 at the 2010 census, down from 553 at the 2000 census. Garden City is located on the Grand River in central Michigan and is bordered by Lapeer County to the north, Washtenaw County to the east, Lansing Township to the south, and Monroe Township to the west. The first humans living in what would become Garden City were Paleo-Indians who hunted and collected plants along with other animals that lived along or near their settlements. By about 12500 BCE there were small villages found near present day Ann Arbor and even as far away as Saginaw Bayou which served as trade points for goods brought overland from Asia and Europe. In 1817 when Drury opened his new hospital in downtown Detroit he named it after Sir John Young whose father had founded Gratiot County in 1795. On July 10 of that year, Garden City was incorporated as a village under its own charter with a population of fifty-six people. During World War II much development took place within Garden City boundaries; construction began on Army Air Forces Base Macomb which became home to engine builders Ford Motor Company's Willow Run Assembly Plant; Navy Yard just north of town changed hands multiple times during World War II before becoming urban military housing known as Fort George Gee; then again it changed hands until being donated by General Motors Corporation to be used for research into an all-new fuel system for American tanks called " GM TorqueFlite" (later "GM Durabuild"); finally, Ford's Willow Run plant closed after production ended in 1945 but this did not impact Garden City's growth rate one iota however because Tool Workshops Incorporated continued manufacturing tools there until 1978 when they moved out due to increased competition from domestic products from abroad) Other significant developments during this time include: First Methodist Episcopal Church built in 1948 (now part of Holy Cross Roman CatholicChurch); First Baptist Church erected in 1951 (now Good Shepherd United MethodistChurch); Second Presbyterian Church erected 1962 (now StyxUSA); moving to our current location on Main Street in 1959 thanks largely to support given by Mrs.. Kiefer Dollard who gave us land next door on which we could build our church without infringing upon her original land holdings).
